My 9yr old son has diagnosis of ADHD & Anxiety. He takes 36mg Concerta/36mg Methyphenidate XR 1x daily in am. He about 8 months ago he suddenly started to say very negative things about himslef-Im stupid, nobody loves me, you hate me, your mean, I should just kill myself, ect. At first it was just around bedtime or when he was very hungry, around 6 or 7pm. A few months later it began to happen more randomly, the verbal outbursts got worse, he is more physical, he throws things, makes messes, challenges at home and at school, gets up in class and throws papers around, is very much not himself at all. He will say such iffensive things and push, or hit, swear. Say things like I dont care, yiur fat, ugly, you hate me Im stupid, and refuse to stop 'mis behaving'. I co parent and its very difficult to support my sin with a co oarent that is minimally engaged when asked to be.

Did anything else change around the time you started seeing the change in behavior? Had any of his medication changed recently?

Yea, alot actually- increased meds, vare taker change, difficulty at school, increase anxiety that came out physicslly and parental conflict. So yes, It makes sense he has had these struggles and realky didnt know what o do or how to get his needs and worries met. But the outbursts started before Gammie getting sick. His Gammie had a mental crisis and he saw some if it at his dads about 4 days later she ended up in Er and then psyche for almost a month- is on a Commitment until July. She took care of Evan in am and afterschool while his dad worked. So she was gone and that was difficult for him, and me. I Do think, since I posted this, we are starting to get to a better place day by day.

my partner had aggression like this on a stimulant medication. Having a gene sight test helped us find out those were adverse side effects to the medication. We got him on another stimulant that had no adverse effects, and it helped emmensely.

Also, he was put on an anxiety med, which helps. Me and my stepkid also have outbursts like this more when we aren’t taking our anxiety meds. Maybe talk with your doc about gene sight test and anxiety meds.

Stimulants never worked for my grandson. They made behaviors worse. What does his doctor say?

my daughter has a lot of outbursts like this. Prozac and occupational therapy have been the biggest helps.

I had a co worker tell me same thing about Prozac.
