Hey everyone,Ontario Canada here, I have a 12 yo boy who is on 27mg of concerta. First prescription was brand name, this one is the generic...did any of you experience a difference with these? Like side effects wise?

I was doing some research today and found out that the generic for Concerta that is available now is no longer equivalent to the brand, regarding its delivery process. They were equivalent back in 2007 when I first took Concerta.

He was put on Ritalin short acting and catapres (clonidine) after diagnosis and while the Ritalin worked amazing while in his system the rebound was horrific (behaviors that were ten times worse then before meds) so we had an appointment with his pediatrician two weeks ago and he started concerta he

My son just started concerta 4 days ago.

My son started Concerta a couple weeks ago and the initial results were amazing but I feel like over the last couple days it’s not working as well. Is this common as their body adjusts? Does he just need a higher dose or is this a sign it’s not going to work? Just looking for others experience!

Didn't like Adderall side effects or concerta. Loved Vyvanse but it is very expensive. Interested to hear how people felt after just starting Wellbutrin.

12yo daughter is diagnosed with ADHD, inattentive presentation and started Concerta approximately one month ago; she takes it every day, no weekends off. Prescribing doctor said it would take about three weeks for the medication to reach therapeutic levels.

Usually week day sports and activities are a nightmare because they always occur right when his Concerta is wearing off and he becomes a wiggly, bouncing, shouting mess that coaches can't seem to handle. I want him to ENJOY activities and not always be the one getting in trouble.

I started on Concerta 18mg a few weeks ago and it started out great! I was able to do all the things I wanted to do and social anxiety was very low. Now after a few weeks, the last couple days I don’t really have any energy throughout the day and cannot properly function as well as I could.

I've been reading about the differences between namebrand vs generic for concerta. Apparently the shortage is not affecting the area I'm in too much so either would be available she said. So my questions are any suggestions for which would be better?

He takes concerta and does fairly well on it except that he has a very hard time sleeping.

Her pediatrician started her on Concerta to help with ADHD in class, and even increased the dose to hope to curb her behaviors of impulsivity and emotional lability but nothing seems to be working. We are at a complete loss, and I'm starting to lose hope.

Concerta worked but soon stopped working, and she had mega-adrenaline rushes and tachycardia. Now she's on Vyvanse, propanalol (beta blocker for the tachycardia and anxiety), and she's going to start lamictil as a mood stabilizer. But the Vyvanse stopped working even sooner than the Concerta.

hello, My 9yr is on Concerta for is ADHD which works for everything! The down fall is the lost of appetite when on it, causing us to use cyproheptadine which doesn’t seem to help, does anybody know of a medication, stimulates or non-stimulants where the side effects aren’t lose of appetite?

I wrote an earlier post about whether to try Concerta or Adderall for my 8 year old. Received some helpful replies. Thank you. We started the methylphenidate XR LA 10 mg yesterday (which says compare to Ritalin on the bottle). Intentionally started on the weekend so i could observe him closely.

I heard most of the people use Vyvanse, Adderall and Concerta. Are those medications WAY BETTER then Ritalin or is Ritalin still a valid option? I'm using Ritalin guys but taking it 2/3 times a day is a joke. Thanks in advance for your help guys

Currently he’s only seeing a psychiatrist to monitor his Concerta medication. He was on Aripriprazol (antipsychotic) but he stopped as he did not like the side effects in the way it made him feel). We are having huge difficulty parenting him, my husband especially.
