🍏 welcome & do post some pics & tell us about your walks in beautiful Penzance! It’s years since I was there.

Hopefully others will respond, as I’m also nowhere near there.

However, here are some ideas to find likeminded walkers:

1) Parkrun has started 2 years ago to attract more Parcwalkers to their Saturday 9am events. They are across the country but I think there might not be one in Penzance directly. Nearest I can see is Lands End and Penrose. But they are brilliant for generally meeting likeminded runners and walkers.

2) have you considered looking for groups in your vicinity of The Ramblers Association? My experience is that they do too long distances for me but I have always been tempted to connect with them, but also have not so far.

3) Health centre local or private walking initiatives. I did a Nordic Training session in my town and we formed a little group of walkers interested in Nordic Walking, kept together via a Facebook group. Depending on region, there might also be walking groups set up by health centres, charities or even Walking / Hiking Festivals.

You probably are aware of all these, but thought I’d list these to give some ideas!

We’d love to hear about your walks. So count us in as your virtual walking buddies!

Oh I am with you on 5-day sitting job and loosing weight. It’s hard, isn’t it? But brilliant about your commitment to walking!

One of the newest thing I have done is buy myself a rise-and-fall standing desk for my office (the cheaper desk extension ones that you put on top of your table) and I now do varied sitting -standing intervals, from 15 min sitting-5min standing to 10/10min.

I’m not sure it helps with weight, but it has improved my too tight calf muscles.

Happy walking!

Oh brilliant idea about the desk, but working for NHS my manager is refusing the purchase anything like this due to their financial situation at the moment.

I will try to mix and match whenever I can

Thank you 🙏 for all your support and help so far.

It’s nice to see I am not the only one struggling with the weight due to job description 🙏
