Anyone know of any good routes around Alnwick to run visiting family in that area next week 🤔

I love my various free mapping tools for just this reason: exploring a new area.

So I fear I don’t have advice from having run in Alnwick, but my ideas for running in Alnwick would be as follows:

1) is there a parkrun route in Alnwick? Yes there is, and it’s called The Pastures, with views of the castle. See web pages parkrun.org.uk/thepastures/ and to wet your appetite, their flickr photo collection is at flickr.com/groups/thepastur...

2) can I see what other runners run? I did look at the mapping feature on Strava, and many runners seem to be using the paths along the River Aln.

The free version of All Trails also shows a nice trail alongside the river, and covering also the town.

So I fear I cannot give any guidance from experience, but it looks like you might have some really exciting runs ahead of you!

Enjoy!

Thank you I'll probably run the parkrun route even though I'm not there on the Saturday but I will be running the whitley bay parkrun instead

I'm looking at the Rising Sun or Whitley Bay for a week on Saturday as a parkrun, only just found Rising Sun

As well as the suggestions given by CBDB, I use the Footpath and OS Maps apps.

I'd have to get down to the beach and dunes at Alnmouth. But Alnwick's all about Barter Books!

It's a very special place for me Alnmouth and love it, the golf club does nice food and a fantastic English or Scottish breakfast and you don't have to be a member to eat inside

🍏 📚 🚂 it’s one of my favourite places We always stop there on our way up North or sometimes just pop up there for fun! Lingering winter breakfasts besides a roaring log fire 🔥 😍 the best ever!

If I’m not too late- coastal footpath from Boulmer to Craster & beyond is brilliant for walking or running- great for bird watching too!! 😄
