Help for exercise

Hello everyone, I am struggling a little bit with getting outside for a walk or whatever. I would normally take a dog ( not mine) for a walk twice a week, but because of the cold and wet, the owner felt that the dog should be kept in the house/garden. So in between time, whilst I walk to a little shop where I volunteer twice a week, I feel I don’t do a lot of exercise.

I think I need a shove or something to get outside. Any helpful suggestions welcomed.

I'd love to help shove you, hopefully without being considered a bully lol 🤣.Do it ! I started daily walking last week n I've awaiting a hip replacement, it is literally agony, getting going but once going the pain eases.

I can assure you, after a lifetime of exercise and being a very virile man ! Giving up exercise after retirement was the biggest mistake I could have made.

I relaxed, told myself it was time to chill out, no need to worry about exercise. Well, withing a few short yrs, my body reacted badly. I gained weight, my body stiffened up and my hip became a serious problem.

Instead of doing something, I did nothing and now it's got worse. I'd love to be able to walk my dog still, instead my daughter has to visit and do it. He looks at me sadly all day hoping I will but I just can't, I'm terrified of him pulling me off my feet, (he's a puller).

So walk to that shop, walk the long way even, just do it ! Don't be me, don't make my mistake. You have to keep going, to keep going.

Ps I hope the weather improves and you get your doggy companion back ! They're a great excuse to get out, walk and chat to other doggy owners 😁.

Let us know, if you get off that couch !!!

have you downloaded the Active 10 app! It gives you little badges and supports you in getting into the habit of walking daily for 10 minutes and then progressing to 30 minutes.

Also, have a look at our monthly challenges from last year at healthunlocked.com/active10... and you could pick one you fancy and do that for the month.

But we will start with monthly challenges in February.

Or you could follow an 8-week walking training plan, see healthunlocked.com/active10...

Hope you find some walking inspiration! Keep on moving!
