Just broke open my new 2024 fitness diary!

I just broke open my new 2024 fitness diary! And a blank diary is so magical!I used to be an avid diary writer until my thirties, than stopped and only picked it up again once I started running, walking and rowing in my 50s. But I’m enjoying it again, and the diary is rather a fitness and health-journey notebook where I track what I’ve been doing, and what impact it has had.

It gives me also a focus on contemplating my next steps, whether it is a training plan, considering my food and nutrient intake or tracking my health journey. And any ideas for next walks get listed in a specific section, so I don’t forget!

So how is everyone else planning their next walking steps?

That is SUCH a good idea. I'm a week late, but I may look for a diary tomorrow!

Yey! And search out a good pen you love to write with! I love the feeling of writing with a thick ball point pen, for instance.

I "write" write with a magnificent ink pen, currently in one of two notebooks, depending which book I'm working on. I have a few other really good pens, but yes, you are right: I may dedicate one to this diary!

Oh dear. Hope it passes! Are you both on this years 1000 mile challenge? I didn’t sign up this year, but need to seek some motivating new targets to aim for.

we are just going to make notes of miles. Downloaded sheets from online. They’re only 500 miles on sheet but will just print out 2 .

I use a blank journal or my phone to plan my exercises 🤗

I’m happy with a plain old thick bic pen…but as soon as it gets a bit blotchy, it’s relegated to scrappy pen use…shopping lists and the like!

No walking plans as such, just fitting in a walk on a non run day when I can’t get up the allotment. 😊

Yes, a thick bic pen will do me just fine, as well!

Have fun on the allotment!

I LOVE this CBDB! I might try it too, and thank you for showing us how you use yours.I used diaries until I stopped work, but I can see now that it would still be useful.

Yes, I fear I’ve gotten into the habit of getting me one of those fancy planners that have sections for the week, for the month and then 3 months goals.

I used to think them naff or only for young people who still could use some guidance for planning and dreaming ahead.

But they make excellent fitness / health journey diaries. And even at our age, we can dream! 😊😃

This has got me thinking about what I do! I love a diary but I only write runs (or occasionally other workouts) I’ve done in it. I often have plans on spreadsheets or printed bits of paper for ticking off. I don’t like the pressure of having runs written in a diary ahead of time in case I decide to reschedule them.

Gthants now’s a great time to buy a diary…they’ll all be on sale!

Yeah. I also use them rather to note what I’ve done, but also keep note of my current quests or challenges.

So I also do not set down on which days I run, rather note when I have run them. I sometimes can spot a pattern. (For instance, I regularly run on the weekend but I predominantly run on Sundays, rather than Saturdays)
