My old Tom Tom watch has given up the ghost. Actually the watch works fine but the app that collates the information is no longer supported. Tom Tom sent an email saying that they were discontinuing and closing the app at the end of September. Ditto its connection to Strava.
My Tom Tom has been my training buddy for 15 years or so. I can still use it to measure my heart rate and distance travelled in real time, but cannot save the data.
I can’t afford a new one just yet, but if anyone has any suggestions for when I buy a new watch, I’d be very grateful.

Hi I hate that just when you’re used to a watch. I’ve got Garmin 35 and so does Mr D and it links to Strava. It count heart rate steps miles and sleep. I wear mine to bed. This is my second Garmin. It’s easy to charge as well.
Wow I have just looked it up, it seems ideal for me, not fussy, just a straight forward device. Good price too. Thanks for the tip. It looks like my Tom Tom too.
I thought about getting one which measures VO2 Max but then I wonder if I can be bothered with VO2 max, I walk, jog and cycle and strength train, and I’m not training for a race or anything! Just for the fun of being out and about. . I’m looking to pay less that £200 (much less if poss) and don’t want anything too big.
I picked up a Garmin Forerunner 245 a couple of months ago. It's an old model now, superseded by the 265, but was rather less than £200 whereas the 265 was around £300 at the time.
If you can still get it, it may work for you.
While being "old" i.e. 2019 technology (!) it has more options than I'll ever use and I've got on very well with it.
I'd recommend Garmin generally based on this experience, so expect you'll also be fine with a 35.
Thank you. Garmin seem to have a really name and lots of positive reviews. I’m like you in that I don’t mind an older version, as long as it is still supported by the technology it’s fine.
