Well, I failed somewhat miserably to complete our last challenge from September, which was all about going out for those foraging walks. My excuses were valid and diverse; from recovering from illness, to the blackberries in our neighbouring fields being really small and not ripening well. We ended up going out and collecting only one batch, compared to at least 10 trips and more to load our freezer for the years before. (I did manage to nibble on some nettle seeds, but we didn’t collect these either).
So I personally was seeking a realistic but aspirational challenge and came across the video I posted in my last post ( healthunlocked.com/active10... ) , and so I pondered for a while if I was going to do a daily walking challenge for myself, knowing that this would be a bit too challenging. Along the way I also learned about the spoon theory ( healthunlocked.com/active10... ) that demonstrates in form of a number of spoons the limits of your daily energy capacity, also fitting for many health challenged walkers.
So, taking all of this into account, I am going back to basics and posting a challenge (both for myself and anyone who wants to join me) to get at least 10 minutes of daily walks regularly, at least for 25 days in October. (The 5 unspecified days gives us the buffer to not have to beat ourselves up in not quite meeting the challenge)
Of course we can use our own Active10 app for this, or any Steps app, or even the new Chase Mountain App that has a free 30 day walking challenge with some prompts included. So I have added some links to these apps below, but there are many more that can be used:

Active10 on Android play.google.com/store/apps/...
.
Chase Mountains on iOS apps.apple.com/gb/app/chase...

.
Steps App on iOS apps.apple.com/gb/app/steps...
Steps App on Android play.google.com/store/apps/...
.
To note: the Active10 App has been recently updated, so for all of the walkers who experienced some issues, it might be useful to try to update.
So, for our October Challenge, for anyone wanting to join me, let’s see if we can walk at least 25 days in October of at least 10 minutes of active walking!
As this is an easy challenge for many of our regular walkers, it might be a more motivational challenge for ‘advanced’ walkers to see it as an “additional” 10 minutes to your normal amount of daily walks.
Happy walking, everyone!
