A very large Photowalk Challenge June/July Critter

The picture was from the last time I saw this peacock, I was on my warm up walk prior to a run .I saw him again this morning crossing the road in front of me but I didn't stop to take a picture as I had just started my run about 30 seconds ago!

A couple of cars stopped to let him cross 🙂

I finished my run (C25k Re run Week 5 run 3) on the same road but by then he was nowhere to be seen.

I hear him calling out every evening at dusk and early each morning, he lives just a few minutes from my house 🙂

First of all Ian congratulations on re completing run 3 of week 5 of C25K, that's a lovely photo of a peacock, at one of the parkruns I go to there are several peacocks in an area in thr park that the runners pass, in fact the place that the run director and others go to to sort out the result's is called The Peacock Restaurant.

Thank you Alan 🙂👍.We used to have a peacock living in the grounds of our local orthopaedic hospital , he lived there over 20 years but died a few years ago now .

He was called Percy and was very famous in the area.

There is a sculpture of him outside the front of the hospital 🙂

Glad the running is going well Ian. Thank you for posting this beautiful photo. The peacock has such glorious colours and is truly a sight to behold, I know some people do find their calls a nuisance though. Hoping the weather has cooled for you and Misty, I have been finding the heat difficult since the heart attack. Much cooler now thank goodness. 🐈 ☁️

And yes, he is a stunning bird but his calls can get a little annoying at times 😁

What a beautiful photo of such a magnificent bird. I saw one last week on the farm gates by us but I was too slow at getting my phone out and getting the perfect shot😂he ran off very quickly. Congratulations on getting your run in and it’s good to read the running is going well.🥰

That’s so painful. I haven’t had it but my husband occasionally has a flare up of it and he suffers with it so I can sympathise. I hope it gets better soon🥰

A long time ago, early 80s, newlywed, I lived in a house on a steep hill with rolling fields behind it. There must have been a peacock at one of the farms in the hills a little way off. At first we didn’t know what the rather eerie call was. We never actually saw the bird, but heard it regularly.Your post has evoked many memories for me.

Yes it's a very eerie call!I didn't know what it was until my neighbour told me that the peacock was around the gardens again .

There used to be one living in the grounds of the local orphapedic hospital.

It lived there for 22 years before it died .

There is even a sculpture of him outside the front of the hospital, he was called Percy 😁
