Some more treadmill walks

Hiya,

I guess most people will call me a fool for doing my walks on the treadmill instead of outdoors and I guess I have to admit it is foolish, especially in this nice weather. But when I am walking alone, I enjoy myself more watching a movie on my treadmill than walking alone outdoors with only my mind to keep me company (my mind and I are not the best of friends). So I stick to the treadmill for the time being. Plus I do find I get more of a workout on my treadmill (lots of sweating) at the same speed as I walk outdoors. Weird, but a treadmill has always had that for me.

Anyhow, in the meanwhile I watched Twilight and Divergent while on the treadmill. Watched Divergent this weekend in 2 walks of each a bit more than an hour. On my second walk (1h09) I had almost reached 5K even! Sweat was dripping from me, but I was enjoying myself so much! This portable DVD player has definitely been the best buy of the year for me.

As to moving, I also do 60 seconds of planking every day. I had followed this 30 days challenge app to go from 20 seconds of planking to 120 seconds of planking. I did finish it, dying a couple of times on the way. And though I am proud I did do 120 seconds of planking 4 days in a row, I decided after the challenge to go back to 60 seconds every day. I read that planking is good for the core muscles and my core muscles sure can use a bit of strengthening! But 60 seconds is a good number for me a the moment. Not comfortable, but not dying either. Once those 60 seconds feel easy peasy, I might up them to 65 seconds (and so on). But I am not there yet. There is still to much shaking going on in my body in those 60 seconds. I want to feel strong and unshakable before upping my time.

But I am proud that I do 30 minutes of walking + 60 seconds of planking + 10 minutes of meditation every day. It makes me think I am actually being healthy or something. It might not sound much to many people (eg. colleagues who resemble Duracell bunnies), but for me it is a lot and I am content with it.

Cheers, Evy

Hi do what’s best for u. You seem to be really enjoying your treadmill. Well done. Yes I think planking good for your core muscles and meant to help your back, maybe I should try 60 seconds a day. Like that idea.

I'd suggest a 30 day challenge app for planking, but between 60 and 120 seconds you often feel like dying 😂. But the principle is good until 60 seconds. You start with 20 seconds and after 3 days you add 10 seconds and so on.
