I set off today to do the Princess Diana memorial walk, taking in St James Park and Hyde Park.
I got off my bus at the Houses of Parliament and walked round the back streets to start at St James Park. As soon as rounded the corner I knew something was different. Lots of police and armed guards and a mass of people everywhere, I knew on a sunny weekend it was going to be busy but this was off the scale.
I wandered on a bit and then I found I couldn’t get on to the path I needed to as it was closed off. A little further on I realised what was going on. It was the dress rehearsal for the Trooping of the colour which is happening next week.
I aborted that walk and made my own up. Round Piccadilly, Fortnum and masons on to Green Park, picnic lunch in Green Park the back to Houses of Parliament. At the bridge I turned right on to the Embankment and walked to London Bridge. Then onto Elephant and Castle and the bus home.
Total km’s walked 13km
Total steps for the day 24,447.
Not quite what I planned but a great walk in the sunshine.
A selection of My London’s photos. 😀.
