Tonight at my race walking session it was event simulation for the start of my Half Marathon a week on Sunday.
My coach and I have been doing the calculations and I am going to be going for just under 3 hours for the 21.1km. Hehe In Theory. Personally I would be so chuffed if I could.
So today’s training was 12 laps around the 400m circuit and I was aiming for 3:20 per lap. The first four went well then I started tailing off a little and by the time I had finished the 12 laps I was 1:12 min behind schedule.
On saying that I started race walk training in November of last year and my 1km pace time then was 9:36min/km. today’s 1km pace time was 8:39min/km. so the training is working.
I left the training session feeling positive about my event. I will do a reduced session next Thursday and eat a bit of pasta next week In preparation.
Just to think this time last year I was just starting out with the Active 10 to start building up my pace a bit.
