I am 37 year old and smoker for 17 years . Now I am on smoke quit program (cold turkey) and it’s day 14 for me.
As a motivation and put some energy I decided to go for C25K plan . However on first run only I had trouble breathing in (left w1r1 after 6th 1 min run ) . Smoking does huge damage to your lungs . So now I m doing brisk walk for sometime before I can test my lungs again (hope fully it will also recover somebit after quitting smoking )
Did 4 k under 40 min today.
Any suggestion for increasing stamina ??

Arrh Grimreaper, stopping smoking is so very hard - very well done on stopping! I stopped 4 years ago (after 48 years) - didn't do as well as you though as I vape now. But I must say, I feel very much better for it! I have found that by doing a 6 minute brisk walk (I can't manage the recommended 10mins yet) 2 or 3 times a day, when I walk longer distances I'm coping much better! I'm so glad you've found our forum - you'll get a lot of encouragement and support here on your journey to better health and fitness!
Thanks a lot Kay 50 .., I need ppl like u to encourage and keep me motivated. And you are doing great u lost some 33 lbs in 9 months once u loose some more u will able to do surely active 10 .
U r story of walking after all those incidents and being overweight are so much encouraging. Hats off Kay
Sounds like you've made great strides Grimreaper. And 4km in under 40 minutes is great, you must be motoring.
Stamina will come with time. For me the biggest thing is to set goals that are achievable in the not-so-distant future. For example, you could set the goal of doing 5 km in 50 minutes. Or 4 km in 38 minutes. Or 40 minutes but in a hillier area. You have to play with what motivates you, and keep those goalposts moving.
