I did an overall 6 miles today. In my big walk I managed to do 3.59 miles in 66 minutes. I was excited to see those results. I need to set a new goal.

Schele, That’s very impressive. You are barreling through.
You are doing really well, remember to factor in some rest days to let those muscles heal a bit as well, over use can lead to injury. Great calorie count you have got there.
Well done Schele - your walking schedule is truly impressive! Fantastic results!

Thank you for the positive feedback. Question though, I have been doing this for over a month and each week since the start I have gained weight why is that? So I've walked and been watching what I eat and my calories and have put on 1 pound every week so total 6 pounds.

I recently started to put all of my food into MyFitnessPal app to get a sense of how I was eating, not to lose or gain weight but to make healthier choices.
It's eye opening when you put everything in and look at the calories. I also found I'm underestimating portion size, measuring made all the difference.
I was recently told I have high cholesterol, so I've been using MyFitnessPal too, I suspect it's not that accurate, but to see how much saturated fat is contained in, say, a couple of plainish biscuits is very educational.
I think the accuracy largely depends on how diligent the user is, and whether or not ingredients are measured. Also it's very easy to sneak things in without realizing that you've missed it. When I make my lunch for work in the morning I'll often pop food into my mouth while I'm doing it, and not remember to log it. Or I'll add the muffin that I ate but forget to add the butter. Additionally, I think it's much better if you take the time to put in the recipes you make, rather than using the generic suggestions.
Oh gosh, Schele, that's a difficult one! You know, there are many different eating plans out there, each one with different reasons why they will help people to lose weight - I have tried many of them! Lol! It seems to me that different things work for different people. Since October I have lost exactly 30 lbs and all I can do is tell you what works for me - but I'm not a health professional and we're all different! I don't walk very far (max 3000 steps or 5mins brisk walk) because I have health issues which won't let me do much more. However, when I started here I could only manage 200 steps, so I am getting stronger! I alternate between 3 different eating plans - changing when I lose no weight for 2 weeks. I start by following "The 17 Day Diet" for one cycle. Then I do a high fat almost no carb eating plan and then I follow the "Slimming World" plan. Once I am satisfied with my weight I intend to follow the "Slimming World" plan for life. If you go onto their website you can access 2 weeks eating plans - one vegetarian and one not - without having to join the plan, so those two weeks' plans are free! I know that at times when there's no weight loss I am losing inches - I can feel it in my clothes. Also, muscle weighs a lot more than fat, so if I'm building muscle I expect to gain a little weight. I hope this has helped some - I know how disheartening it is when you're doing all the right things but your body's not co-operating! Good luck!
One system that has worked for me is to control the volume of food at each meal. Limiting myself to eating what would all together fit in my cupped hand has helped me lose and control weight. I allow myself to eat whatever I like but limit the quantity.
For the past three or so years I have been finishing my last meal of the day before 6PM. I go to bed sometime between 9:30PM and 10:30PM. I wake up around 6AM and have a large mug of black coffee sometime thereafter. There is at least a 12 hour gap between ingesting any food and drink. See salk.edu/scientist/satchida...
It seems like you're in a good place right now - you're making some really good decisions. Since I retired I've found it hard to get into a routine and stick to it. You've endorsed the importance of trying harder - thanks!
Woohoo! Well done. What will the next goal be?
Runswithdogs,
My next goal is reaching 4 miles with 90 minutes, then to work on shortening the time.
