WALKIES.... our new Canine group 🐶

December/January - Canine group

After the poll I did last week we realise a lot of our members are Dog walkers and lovers. There is no option when you have a dog, you have to get out the door and you have to do it frequently so motivation is not an issue. Statistically you will cover more distances on your weekly walks than non dog walkers.

We wanted to have a section on the new forum that gave you a place to share you walks, we would also love it if you took pictures and shared your walks with us too.

We have had some great photos and scenery posts in the past and the forum looks great with them on.

So please add you names to the Walkies group and the names of your companions as we all walk together. Tell us about your walks.

Ps. If the monthly post gets too busy we will change it to a weekly one.

What a great idea. I walk my 2 dogs twice a day. Davis is a black labrador, and Martha is a newfoundland

That is a lot of dog! If you get too tired at the bottom of the hill I bet Martha can pull you up.

They sound like a lovely pair. Looking forward to seeing some photos.

My little 10 year old mutt Osa has been getting back into some gentle walks the past couple of months after 8 weeks of strict rest for torn CCL ligaments. At this point it's just down a couple of houses and back, but she loves it. We've thankfully had little ice this year as we couldn't take her out if it was too slippery.

Glad she is out and about again, I bet she has missed it.

Great idea, count me in! I walk every day with Mr Squiggs, the Springer. Always entertaining walks due to his love for chasing things, especially furry or feathered creatures !! 🐾🐾😬 Today's walks were no exception - pheasants, squirrels, bikes, leaves blowing in the wind and big horses......just too exciting!

So much for a little dog yo enjoy there. I think dog walking makes you take in your environment a bit more as you keep an eye on them .

Beautiful walk this morning with pink sky sunrise. Not so beautiful dog as he has rolled in fox poo

Oh no, we have lots of foxes round us and I know that stuff stinks☹️. Hope you get it off easily.

Ugh. And they look so happy while they are doing it.

Always had dogs about us, noticed they’re getting smaller as we get older though, so much for my childhood dream of owning a wolfhound when I retired. Toto, my dog, is a shihtzu x yorkie, very pretty and cute too look at but as he came to me as troubled rescue the poor lad is still beset with all kinds of anxieties. My husband has a chihuahua yorkie cross, 6lb in weight, cleverest dog I’ve ever met, she thinks she rules the house... walking these two gets us out into the lovely farmland that we are lucky enough to have on the doorstep, short walks twice a day because of her short legs and my husbands disabilities

Hehe, I’m lucky, I have yet to meet a pet that doesn’t think they rule the house 😀. Your two sound lovely. I’m sure Toto is in the best hands for his anxieties.

Enjoy your farmland walks.

I am 69 and have my first longed for newfoundland. Most large dogs are very gentle. We have a lot of fun with her. She is learning water rescue and cart pulling. Go for it, get your wolfhound!

Very muddy walking today, and large puddles for paddling. The dogs not me

I walk my dogs a big cross breed who's nearly 3 and a German Shepherd who's 18 months. Half hour each per day

Aww. Those big guys sure like their walks. I had the best walks with my shepherd x before he passed away, he wouldn't let me get a day away with out a jaunt, even in -25C weather.

Oh thank you, Tess and I would love to join. Tess is a Retriever and today we walked in the Thames Valley Park, the tea shop at Sonning Lock wasn’t open but we went in The Great House and had a small cup of coffee before, walking back again. I think we did about 4 miles, I don’t know how many steps that is!

I have Buzz who is a rescue Greyhound, he is around 4 or 5 years old, very affectionate with people but terrified of all other dogs even the tiniest and he is a whopping 38 kg and my hip height.

Just found this group - I have a 6year old cocker spaniel - crazy dog with an obsession for food (bit like his owner!!). I have just been trialing a muzzle to stop him scavenging but i feel so bad about it...........as other dog owners and parents pull their dogs/children out the way!!!

How do you upload/download (whichever way you load!!) pictures onto here??

Realfoodieclub profile image
Realfoodieclub in reply toSP21

Start a new post and introduce your little 6 year old. At the bottom of the written post there is a section that says photo in green click on that and it should tell you how to upload. Can’t wait to see the photo.

A great idea...please include Harvey the border collie and me. He's my furry lodger from time to time and we enjoy many walks together. My Mr Motivator. He's about 11 and gets a bit creaky at times but his 'inner puppy' always wins and keeps him going.

I am a bit disappointed to see alack of recent posts. I walk my dog Sharnie to the park most days. 5 days each morning we have 1hr walk including 30 min play time and 15 min walk there and back. Also 30 min walk 5 days a week in the afternoon. The other 2 days we have 2 30 min walks. Sharnie is a lab/collie cross and loves playing with and retrieving balls

I know p, the Walkies section has gone very quiet hasent it? I loved seeing all the posts on the forum of the dogs on their walks, it was very popular. Please feel free to share any photos of Sharnie out on their walk and we can see if we can get this going again, it was great.

We are on holiday on the Isle of Mull this week. Martha the newfoundland now has a huge fan club. We are stopped countless times so people ,mainly Americans, can stroke her. Plenty of beach walks here.

Realfoodieclub profile image

I’m sure Martha is enjoying the fuss. Please feel free to share any pictures of Martha out On her walks I would love to get back to some more pictures of our canine friends On here.
