No exercise for almost 2 weeks

Oh dear, arthritis has now attacked my left hip and I've found it really hard to accept. So I've been in the depths of a depression - instead of doing what I can, I've just been feeling sorry for myself and hiding away from the world!! So - today is day 1 for me - yet again. I'll be walking the bus route again this afternoon and just be grateful for any number of steps I can manage, even if it is only a few hundred before the pain gets too much to handle! Bye bye couch potato, hello dogged tryer!

So sorry Kay you are in pain but great you are still walking. Would swimming help?

Wishing you better soon

Thanks pcrw - swimming would help tremendously. The Leisure Centre here in Bath has closed the pool indefinitely for repairs - sod's law! So I'm looking for another, hopefully close by. I've found 2 within 8 miles. I will be driving the routes tomorrow to see what the traffic is like and aim to start going next week if it's do-able! I could have gone today, but that would be another excuse not to walk this afternoon! I really appreciate your concern.

Oh Kay I am so sorry, it can be tough when that happens, I really do understand, my own recovery is taking a bit of a battering at the moment as well. Take care of yourself Rfc x.

Dear kay50 sorry to hear about the arthritis in your hip. I suffer from the same in the knees - recently aggravated by a viral fever which made me wheelchair bound for a few days. I'm suggesting something a friend of mine suggested a few days ago: apply some oil (olive or mustard oil) on the part and expose it to the morning sun for half an hour or so. Morning meaning before 11 am. I'm in Bangalore, india. I have been doing it here for the past few days with good results. It's too early to say more, but I have such relief from pain and also more mobility.

Thank you so much for this advice - I am a great believer in natural remedies. I have recently started taking turmeric paste for inflammation caused by arthritis and so as soon as the sun shines here in the UK I will definitely be out there! Because the weather is so fickle I think I will try applying the oil and sitting next to a heater - it may just do the same job!

Hope it works for you. No morning sunlight here today as the sky is cloudy. I will try to take turmeric like you're doing. Thanks for sharing and hope you get some relief.
