Welcome to our virtual walking group. We are here to support and encourage. I always find that being part of a group helps to keep the motivation going and makes it more fun.
Whatever the walking goals you are working towards is fine, it is all about encouraging each other to achieve those little goals as we progress.
Please feel free to post as many times as you like through the week and the at the beginning of the new week I will put a new post up. I'm going to number the posts but that's more for my benefit but if you want to use the weeks to set yourself goals please do.
Wishing you a happy healthy week and happy walking. πΆββοΈπΆββοΈπΆββοΈπππ.

Rusty is out with hubby this morning so I am going for a 90 minutes walk/run. PTKeith encouraged me to mix it up a bit so I power walk up the hills and run the rest. I have a rule that it is always OK to stop or slow down if it is uncomfortable. It certainly increases the time in the cardiovascular zone on the Fitbit. Have a lovely day. Daisy1925
Sounds like a sensible way to get back into running. I'm doing the same as I got the ok from the physio to start running again last week so I will fit it in with my walks as well. Are you on the NHS C25K forum as well. That's a great forum for running as well. (I might be a bias as I run that one as well π)
Back from my run. Just under 90 minutes, 62% in cardio and 37% in peak zones. 15000 steps, 8 miles and 80 floors. That will do for today!
Well I did download the C25K stuff but actually found I was very quickly up to being able to 'run' for an hour or more. I used to run a lot until 10 years ago when I had what a physio diagnosed as chronic bursitis in both hips which she said was caused and exacerbated by running. I still have hip pain but it is only bad at night and is something I can live with. Occasionally I need a paracetamol but nothing more. More recently another physio advised that I should start running again so I started off gently (in fact I only jog slowly so calling it a run is a bit of an exaggeration). Running hasn't made the hips any worse. I have no ambitions to race, join a park run or do a 10K let alone anything more. I am very happy just jogging around on my own really. Daisy1925
I started off my 20-mile walk training with a 5K, which I figured would be a good starting point. I am fitting it into my lifestyle by stopping at Tesco on the way back for my before-the-weekend-my-teenagers-eat-so-much-top-up shop. That throws a bit of weight training in as I carry the stuff back! Today I had to go to town, so I left the car at home and that worked out at 5K as well. Tomorrow will be a shorter walk with hills on my way to school. At the moment I can make this work! Happy walking everyone!
Hi I'd like to join the group please. I try to get out walking a couple of times a week with a friend but I'm hoping by joining it will spur me on to walk on my own when friends are not around.
Yesterday I did 13,800 and today I've managed 10,850
Last night I decided to get myself organised. I made up my lunch and prepared my overnight oats so that I would have enough time to walk the 2 miles to work. Walking back in the heat this afternoon was hard work but I did it! So far today ive done 11, 400, off to pilates later which will.give my some extra steps πΆββοΈβΊ
No extra walking or excercise as planned, instead im on a mercy mission to help the father inlaw. Ahh well at least ive done my 10,000 steps for the day
Hi there and welcome. What a ritual walking group is a few members of all different abilities talking on here about the walks we have had and supporting each other to get out there even when on some days we don't feel like it. It is a place to share those accomplishments, whatever they are, it could be you went out when you didn't feel like it, you might of achieved the next level of steps you were aiming for, anything like that. I do It as a pinned post because as the week go on you get to know the other walkers and then it's easier to help each other to reach the goals. I hope that makes sense. Rfc x.
