Hi there
I’m 58 and have been concerned about my inability to recall names and general forgetfulness for some time. I’ve spoken to my gp who just did a quick MMSE and said I was fine but I know the change is real.
I have a multimodal goitre but thyroid tests show up as ‘within normal range’ but also have 2 large ovarian cysts (no uterus since 2010), iron deficiency, insomnia, ecotropics (gp says it’s not worrisome), high cholesterol. This all might seem unrelated but I feel sure it’s all connected to what I’ve been eating, from the bits of research I’ve done.
I’m just starting out on gluten-free, dairy-free, wfpb eating as an experiment to see if the cysts will shrink, the goitre might shrink and/or I might lose weight. I’ve had no weight loss in 2 weeks and am cooking from scratch. It’ll come, I’m sure. I tell myself that the main thing is that the food is flooding my cells with nutrients - my nails are stronger than they have been in years.
Just wondering if anyone has anything similar going on and might be trying a similar way of eating to give the body a chance to heal? I’ve just added in nori sheets - 2 per week, with this being the first week. Looking at nutritionfacts.org for information and advice. Would be great to hear from anyone else starting out or anyone further down the line with wfpb please 🙂
