HI

My doctor has asked me to consider HRT patches to help with my tiredness, aching joints , hot flushes and belly fat gain.

I always thought that HRT can cause weight gain. Does any one have any experience of these patches they can share with me please.

I'm so confused and i dont want to start something thats going to make me gain even more weight.

thank you all 🙂

Gill

There is some evidence that HRT can cause weight gain, but it's not clear how much and it may be due to other factors, such as age and lifestyle.

If you're concerned about weight gain, you can talk to your doctor about choosing a type of HRT that is less likely to cause essays.edubirdie.com/do-my-... weight gain, such as transdermal HRT (such as patches).

However, I suggest eating a healthy diet, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, and manage stress. There are simple things indeed.

Please talk to your doctor about your concerns and to develop a plan that is right for you.

Hi

I’m ok thank you . I’ve not made my mind up about the HRT patches yet . I’m trying to eat better , improve my sleep and look after myself more and will see how that goes

Thank you for asking 🙂

Hi I was HRT implants for 22 years after a full hysterectomy when I moved 8 years ago I couldn’t find anyone to give implants so I stopped HRT. The first few years I didn’t have any symptoms but I started having hot flushes night sweats tiredness etc etc. I went to gp and asked to try patches. Since using my symptoms have greatly improved - full nights sleep, diminished flushes, no weight gain (as with the implants) . I would say I did experience headaches for a few days at first. I would certainly give HRT a try.

I use them and have not gained weight. In fact the opposite. Now I get a proper night's sleep I am not so tired and hungry the following day so can make better food choices.
