Hi, I have had a number of illnesses since I turned 70 6 years ago. After finishing decorating my lounge, dining room and master bedroom myself and feeling great and happy with myself. For some reason which I cannot remember I went to the Dr to have a blood test. It may have been to do with I have an under active thyroid (yearly blood test). The blood test result returned which stated that I needed an endoscopy. The results of that endoscopy was that I had Polymyalgia a peculiar illness which really only affected my arms to ache, but was put on daily steroids. I remained on these tabs for three years and paid a private Dr £175 pounds to check that I was over the Polymyalgia so could stop taking the Steroids. In 2021 I was asked to go for another Endoscopy by my GP the results of which were another medical problem I had now developed called Barretts Oesophagus with a Hiatus Hernia. This resulted in my now taking a PPI daily. Last year It was suggested to me that a Dexa scan might be worth having as I had been on PPIs for a while and they can effect your bones. Well surprise, surprise I now have Oesteoporosis. Since being told this I have researched these medications and both of them, Steroids and Pantoprazole, cause thinning of the bones when taken long term. My problem now is how do I look after my bones now. The NHS dont offer a lot of help just more medication with phosphates which have side effects, and the OPS give you the same advise as NHS. YouTube have a lot of Dr's telling you which exercises to do which I am attempting to do, but there are no real solid ideas or medications for Osteoporosis that you can rely on as a cure. Has anyone managed to improve their bone mass their own way?

Have you been offered Zolendronic acid infusions? ( 1 per year for 3 years) - rheumatology in West Herts offers it to strengthen bones and halt the loss of bone density.

Do you have the strength to exercise? Walking increases bone density in your legs and even light dumbbells (1 to 3 lbs) can impact your arms. YouTube has many arm routines done sitting in a chair.
