Hi, I am 65 and of course went through menopause ages ago. Then had total hysterectomy including every single bit because of cyst on ovaries. Before the hysterectomy I often felt cold, depressed, anxious, shy, unwell, ibs and many other things including bad insomnia. I also got asthma which was very debilating. After the hysterectomy I told my nurse I wanted to try hrt to see if it would help with any of these things. Been taking it about a month and it has helped. Now I will be asking if I can take progesterone too as I have been told I have endeometris and estrogen can encourage it. Think the cyst on my kidneys is part of it. How are you getting on?

I found hormone replacement helped. I was put on progesterone 200mg which I think is a high dose, but it helps me with sleep and progesterone is a natural diuretic. So not as puffy. I tried cutting back on it and the edema I would get in my hands and legs came right back. My doctors couldn't figure out why, but when I went back to it I felt better and no edema. It takes some tinkering, seeing how you do for a week or 2 and adjusting accordingly. They have natural over the counter alternatives and I think I tried them all, no luck there for me. We are all different. I had a full hysterectomy by the time I was 34, so have been on HRT for a long time. It has adjusted down over time. At one point they told me to stop. I was a mess. We know our own bodies. It is frustrating, give it time, this too shall pass at some time. Good luck!!
