I am looking for links on dosage for Utrogestan advice on inserting as a suppository dosage, I know it's not officially licensed for this so Drs are prescribing the same dose as oral. Many thanks

Hi there, I'd have a look on the Menopause Matters uk website/forum and type in 'Utrogestan' - many women on there take it vaginally. 100mg once per day usually at night seems to be the preferred way for women who don't want to take it orally. Many find it's more effective that way. Taking it orally seems to make it less 'available' in the body.

This appears to be a massive dose as the marina is equal to I one tablet a year. My lower back as gone I do suffer with relaxing pelvic muscles and loose ligaments and soft tissues, which can lead to the back being overburdened from Progesteran

It's the standard dose for taking for that type of progesterone and delivery. It depends on your time of life and situation see here: medicines.org.uk/emc/produc... . I've not heard of the brand Progesteran though so it might be worth looking that up elsewhere. I don't think you can really compare the Mirena (coil) to a capsule though as they're not the same thing. Plus the Mirena is not dumping all the progesterone in one go.

You use the same Utrogestan capsule but insert it into the vagina on alternate days, so you’re effectively halving the dose. Mentioned towards the end of the video. balance-menopause.com/menop...

I have had to come off it as I prolapsed really badly and could walk for pain.

I tried it orally for 3 weeks and it gave me severe anxiety and pms symptoms so changed to vaginally and those side effects stopped almost immediately. Have gone back onto my previous Femoston Conti because oestrogel +utrogestan weren't any better (hoped the slightly higher oestrogen might help with dry mouth ) and more of a faff than one pill a day.

I was told by a Doctor I consulted privately that Utrogestan is licensed for use vaginally in France and she said you only have to use it alternate days because it has a stronger effect than when taken orally. I have tried both methods and have gone back to taking it orally in the evening 2 hours after eating. It has helped me massively with sleeping when taking it orally so that is my preferred method.
