Pain after sex with IUD

Has anyone experienced pain/cramping after sex with Mirena IUD?

I had it fitted in Oct ‘20 and bled (with extreme cramping) up until 24th Dec! Still having odd spotting most days, but after sex I am in agony in my lower abdomen. It’s not achey period-like cramps, but stabbing pains. After this happened the first time, my GP put me on antibiotics incase it may have been an infection from the IUD and had an ultrasound and all is in it’s place.

But yet now it is after everytime I have sex. I am at a total loss and not sure if going back to GP is silly as they’ll tell me they’ve covered everything and all is fine with it?!

If it's stabbing pains, then it probably has moved and is poking you! That's what happened to mine and I had to have it removed 😕

That was what I first thought and so did GP, but ultrasound said it was in position?!

They kept telling my sister similar things and it got to the point where she had no choice but to take it out. She said it was super uncomfortable and often gave her sharp abdominal pain.

If you're experiencing these problems, it's not fine! Certainly go back to the GP, and ever so nicely ask if s/he would be happy with this situation him/herself.
