does anybody here have experience with frequent UTI’s?

I’m brand-new to the community so hello :-) I was just wondering how anybody deals with frequent UTI’s. I’m in an intimate relationship; I have been for a year now and probably in the past year I have gotten 5 or 6 UTI’s. I’m even coming off of one right now, I took antibiotics for 10 days and today is my first day off and I’m still experiencing some discomfort.

It’s just really discouraging and disruptful (which it turns out is NOT a word) to always have this fear in the back of my mind, because I always pee after sex without fail, I stay hydrated, and I take a cranberry supplement every day!

My saving grace is that they are not painful (no blood or burning when i pee)! It is just extreme urgency even when I don’t have to go, and then I’m stuck on the toilet feeling like i have to pee and barely peeing for like 30m and feeling like a train hit me. but i’m sure you guys know how all that is.

Is there something new for me to try? Do people who are prone to UTI’s like me have some sort of medication they can use to prevent them?

thanks for listening to me :^) i feel a little bit better just having typed all this out.

Hello there, antiobiotics will not solve your problem ; at least not in the long run. I’ve tried Boriotic acid with aloe and probiotics that come all in a capsules that you need to insert down there for 5 days at least. You will feel relief in a day!!!

hi cabrita! I’ve never heard of that kind of treatment! But i’m interested, what’s the name of the capsule/brand that you use?

Since going on to a daily low dose of Trimethoprim in 2017 I've not had anymore Uti's

PS try ditching the cranberry as it can be an irritant, I can't take it.

I struggled with that for awhile and the question my doctor asked me was “ is your husband faithful”. Second point is do you really drain your bladder well after urinating? You should move side to side, front to back after you think your done because usually we are not. Lol. Good luck. That’s all my advice.

I don’t think that’s it lol! I’m sorry your doctor asked you that! i know they can come from just about anything, & usually sex-wise it can be from a somewhat messy environment.

ooh thank you I’ll try the extra wiggle! it’s SO frustrating when you think you’re done and you aren’t

Hi! I was suffering from frequent UTI's as well. My doctor prescribed my antibiotic to be taken right after I have sex. I also stopped wearing those really comfy microfiber type undies and I haven't had one since. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much, Jody! Since this post, I have gotten a prescription like that too, an as-needed antibiotic! It has worked wonders for me, even though I don’t really know the implications of being on antibiotics so often.

I hadn’t heard about microfiber being a factor! Thank you so much for the tip, I’ll look out for that too.
