side effects of Oestrogen patches

Good afternoon

I was wondering if there is anyone else who has suffered with vertigo ,headache and feeling ravenous when they start HRT?

it only takes 24 hours and the headache starts then feeling light headed and off balance then I have a hunger I just can't satisfy the longer I keep using the gel or patch the worse it gets.

I have a coil fitted as part of my progestogen so it's not that causing my symptoms

Dr's don't seem bothered just tells me to go without ,well (nurse practitioner ) she deals with all things menopause not the Dr's. I've asked to be referred to a menopause specialist but she's refused as I'm not established on Oestrogen (the irony)

I'm desperate to have some relief from the peri-menopause

thank you

🤔Hopefully your GP has checked against interaction with other medications for separate diagnoses.

If you’re on Facebook..there are links to Menopause Support Groups.

There's a forum called Menopause Matters that I found helpful. It's a bit like this forum, rather than Facebook. menopausematters.co.uk/forum/

I have always had huge sensitivity to HRT. Even on a tiny dose of vaginal cream I'm trying at the moment, I've had headaches and nausea and flu-like symptoms.

I think GPs completely underestimate the side effects for some women. What dose are you on? The standard start dose is 50. I found that intolerable with Evorel 50. I cut mine in half and then when I found the side effects were less, requested 25s. I decided I'd cut that up too and work my way up from a quarter of a patch gradually.

As it happened, for me a quarter of a patch was about all I could manage before the sideffects outweighed the benefits. My GP wasn't too happy at the low dose, but once I assured hr I was aware it wouldn't provide protection from osteoarthritis blah blah, she continued to prescribe it.

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't dismiss the progestin coil as not being the problem
