I’ve been on the combined pill for two years but have just been put onto desogestrel as I have severe migraines, I’ve used the mini pill once before (cerelle) and bled continuously for three months, I’m really nervous to start on this new pill as I don’t want the same happening again, can people share their experiences on this pill so I can get an idea of what I might be facing?
Thankyou

Hi , you hopefully won’t get migraines as I was prescribed it also suffered from them and all other pills didn’t agree with me.
I took it for 2 yrs side effects worse first 3 months of taking then settled. Mainly tender breasts, increase in acne. It didn’t help with my heavy periods which was the main reason but bar those side effects didn’t have problems with it.
I changed to this pill last November and I have never looked back.
The change of pill for me was brought on by getting very bad headaches and migraines from the combined pill. I had been on the combined pill for many years with no issues but as time goes on the amount of hormones your body needs naturally changes. The progesterone only pills, I believe are considered safer as it is often the estrogene that can cause side effects.
It took me a little while to get used to not having a period on the new ones, but after the 3 month transition I don’t get the headaches anymore, I don’t get the cramps which are the reason I first went onto the pill. And for me it was definitely the best decision I’ve made.
