Ovarian Cyst

Hi

I had a hysterectomy in June following a bleed. She thought it was due to my pessary, however found I had a cyst on my left ovary. Was referred for sonogram/ultrasound and results were it was soft filled with liquid about 3.5 cm circumference. I also have a thickened endometriosis. No mention of a follow up- is this normal. How will I know if it has grown?

🤔 It may all depend on where you live, and your individual circumstances as what the follow up procedure would be. But, if you are having unusual pain don’t hesitate to contact your GP.

The NHS website says that some women with ovarian cysts are scanned a few weeks/months later so it seems reasonable enough to ask your GP, but a leaflet on the website of the Royal Collage of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), which you can download here, says that small ovarian cysts (less than 5 cms) are unlikely to need any follow up.
