Femoston HRT

My GP has prescribed me with Femoston HRT as I have not had a period for over 18 years due to a prolactinoma. Anyway I have read the leaflet and pretty discouraged by the negatives. Can anyone provide feedback on taking this HRT? Also does it cause hair loss and weight gain? I am 44 years old. Thank you

I'm not a doctor, but you should go on the HRT...it will help in not having osteoporosis...also improves moods....stops hot flashes and night sweats in their tracks. I'm not sure what you read, but they have to put every possible thing that can happen to you in those..keeps them from being sued, I guess. I take HRT and I'm 72 years old..did I think about the breast cancer scare? Yes...but I would rather have a good quality of life NOW than suffer for years and years (which I did before I was able to talk my doctor into giving the HRT to me). The WHO study back in the day was so skewed and most of it wasn't even true! Scared millions of women off HRT, and they (and I) suffered for years with horrid symptoms of not having those hormones....

I’m 38 , been on it for 6 months . It’s been a lifesaver . Hot flushes gone , migraines , gone , my breasts are full again , mood swings gone , I’m sleeping again and my weight has stopped ballooning and is on a downward spiral . Luckily for me non of the side effects have materialised . Hope you’ll be ok too

Omg this is so good to hear, I’m 46 have had awful perimenopause symptoms for 9 months now migraine, achy joints, digestive issues & crushing fatigue I’ve never felt so ill. Been taking femoston 2/10 for just 3 days now, how long before you felt the benefits I’m currently exhausted in bed!

I've just started taking it Femeston 2mg (been about 3 weeks now) and I'm 46. GP more or less forced me to take and I agreed if only to keep her quiet - I've got some thyroid symptoms/ issues/ tests/ high BP etc and she's attributed everything to hormones so I thought let's see. Plus she thinks I had ovarian failure 12 years ago and no Dr has picked it up.

My partner says I seem perkier than usual and I would agree but I'm not sure if that's due to the better sleep. I am sleeping better but is that due to the lack of hot flushes (10 a night minimum)? It's quite difficult to pick apart but I am happy that I do feel slightly better, am sleeping better and no hot flushes.

That said, I wake up every morning with sore joints, my fingers and legs and feet are more swollen and I can feel the skin tight on my calves - fluid retention I'm guessing. I feel exhausted now after the initial enjoyment of good sleep has worn off. I'm back to having weakness - arm/ shoulder is so weak even brushing my teeth with an electric toothbrush :) I've not noticed any significant hair loss although I was losing hair anyway with thyroid issues.

I have been dx with Fibro but I'm not sure if that's accurate to be honest. I mention that because I seem to have periods of 'hyper' and then low, weakness etc. I was just ending my hyper period when I started the HRT so I'm not sure if I'm in a low period and that's what causing the weakness etc. rather than the HRT.

I am not sure whether I'll continue on it as the risks for me may be too high. I have really dense breasts (3 lumps in the past 6 months) and my mother died of breast cancer so that is a consideration for me. Ironically my mother was also on HRT from a young age.

Sorry for the long post but I was the same as you when I started and couldn't find too many answers on the topic. In summary - good points are that I feel a bit perkier (libido increased initially but has sunk like the titantic again) and am sleeping better. Negative points are the fluid retention, swollen hands and feet.
