advice about Mirena IUD

Hi everybody,

I need an advice about Mirena for my daughter,she is 27.She has a non hormonal IUD and wants to switch to Mirena because her periods are very heavy,and her gynaecologist said that Mirena will almost eliminate the period.But she is concerned about side effects,especially weight gain.Please share your experience .Thanks a lot.
