I have had thrush for over 3 years I have tried every pessary and tablet going I’ve had them each night for approx 2 years I’m now off meds as they were not working and waiting for an appointment to have genitian violet treatment my question is I’m in so much pain it hurts to sit down it’s itchy the pain and itch goes deep inside the vagina and up my back passage the pain is intense and I’m bright red down there has anyone experienced this or could there be more than thrush going on I’m at my wits end 🙁

Hi Kaya - so sorry for your suffering - itching 'down there' is truly awful isn't it? I suspect this has no relevance for you - but I had a similar experience and ended up being treated for thrush long term, with little effect. I then discovered that I had reached peri-menopause and realised that the itching was being caused by vaginal atrophy. A short course of an oestrogen pessary treatment helped me enormously. Whatever is going on with you - I hope you find something which works for you soon - good luck x
