Thrush

Hi everyone,

I have been struggling with thrush since Feb 2018 shortly after losing my virginity, after that, I had thrush from Feb - June 2018. I then went on a 6-month course of fluconazole and the thrush stayed away till June 2019. However, last month it returned really badly and took ages to clear up, I am really scared that my old problem has returned. I do everything advised - probiotics, cotton underwear, no soaps, etc. I am now trying to do the candida diet but due to work commitments won't be able to do it for much longer. I am only 21 and feel like this is going to control my life, its already causing strain on my relationship and social life. I am DESPERATE!

Thank you

🙂 Maddie, if you’re self-medicating and getting nowhere maybe it’s time to ask your GP for advice. The Candida Diet can help in some cases but you do have to stick to it. A kinesiologist and a Homeopath diagnosed me with Candidiasis, I was advised to steer clear of yeasty and fermented products, also to reduce sugar as much as possible. At the same time I was advised to take a good probiotic. Sticking rigidly to the diet can cause a ‘die-off’ effect, and symptoms can feel a lot worse before getting better. Thrush is horrible, I know it nearly drives you mad at times 😕 Read about Candidiasis.... and also maybe see what your GP advises🤔

Hi, I have been to the doctors many times and gynecologist, they are doing more blood tests at the moment, but everything seems to come back normal so far. I have been on the diet for about 3 weeksm and taking probiotics. How long did you do the diet for, or is it a permenent change for you - I cant imagine doing that :( I have felt quite a lot of die off but seems to have stoppd the last week luckily. However, starting work at a summer camp so will have to go back to a more 'normal' diet. Hopefully I find something that works for me. Thanks for your reply :)

😏 If it’s actually down to Candidiasis Maddie, I’m afraid you just have to grit your teeth and delete certain things from your diet indefinitely. It’s quite a few years since I got that diagnosis, and I found it very, very hard to stick to the diet. I still have triggers, I can tell if I fall off the wagon, but for me it wasn’t only Vaginal Thrush, with Candidiasis odd symptoms can appear anywhere in the body. I do hope you get some answers, and a solution 🙂

Has your partner been treated as well each time you've had thrush? This is important as he may just be re-infecting you.
