I’ve never posted to this community before but I wanted to reach out to see if anyone could help. A little while ago my blood test showed I had mild anemia (likely from blood loss from my menstrual period). Anyone else experience this and know which over the counter supplement I should buy? Thanks in advance!

I've had anemia twice now thanks to the peri menopause and very heavy bleeding.
One thing I noticed was the over the counter iron tablet I had been taking wasn't strong enough and I still ended up with anemia. When I was prescribed iron tablets by the dr I was given ferrous sulphate 200mg x 3 a day, so I was taking 600mg a day
Also the information sheet inside the prescription stated I should not take within one hour of food or 2 hours after eating or drinking the following, tea, coffee, milk, eggs, and whole grains. I guess these interfere with the absobtion So you might not get any benefit if you take an over the counter iron tablet n then have a cuppa. It's a bit of a pain as 3x pills a day n timing meals and drinks around them.
One other thing, I can't remember how long I took the tablets for but I do remember I had to keep taking them for 3 months after the initial treatment.
