I'm due to have a rigid cystoscopy tomorrow and I'm very very anxious about it. I've never had a general anistetic before either and just feel sick about the whole thing. To top it all off I just got my period today. Should I cancel the whole thing.
My scans also showed a small cyst on my right ovary. This is only my second period since Christmas- I've always had a fairly regular short cycle up to now(25 days). Would a cyst cause missed periods?
Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from anyone else who has had similiar experiences.

I totally understand your concern. I had lots of tests a year ago but I've never had this one. I think that for a rigid cytoscopy they will numb the lower half of your body or put you to sleep. Usually for these things I tell the doctor and nurses that I am nervous and ask them to talk me through it. May not be necessary if you will be out but mentioning your fears will help you feel at ease too.
Also please ring the clinic and explain you have your period. I think it depends why they want to do this test. It may not matter.
I have a fibroid in my uterus. I am premenopausal so my periods are regular but short. I think a cyst can effect our period cycle but this should be discussed with your gynaecologist.
Take deep breaths tomorrow and go somewhere lovely for lunch. I always treat myself after these things. Something to look forward to. 😀
Thanks so much for your reply. I am getting myself worked up. I've never had to go into hospital for anything and this been the first time I feel very vulnerable and scared (I stupidly Googled the procedure😓). I will ring the hospital and see what they say about having my period.
Hi i had one of these- I was worried too but realised i had nothing to worry about, i just went to sleep and then woke up and it was done! hardly any soreness afterwards and i was amazed. Good luck x
