I'm new to this ear ringing stuff and I feel horrible it doesn't go away. This is what happened.

First my left ear got clogged so I thought it was nothing because I had the flu really bad. Then I got better from sneezing, coughing, runny nose and a fever but my ear was still clogged. I thought I was gona get better like I did with the flue until I heard a ringing noise. So I went to the doctor and he told me I had ear wax really stuck so he flush/wash/clean my ear and yes finally my ear uncover. After he wash it he look at my ear and said I had a ear infection so he gaved me antibiotics. But it's been two weeks and the ear ringing is still there. The sound did went much lower after it uncover (because it was loud when it was clogged) but it still there. I'm really scare It will never go away. Has anyone experience this before ? Do ear ringing drops work? Is it possible that it will go away?

Hi, i had tinnitus(ringing in ear) caused by lambrinthitis, when the dizziness went away the ringing never did. I only hear it when it's really quiet or I'm stressed it gets worse... I listen to hypno sleep apps to get me to sleep and take my mind off the ringing. I hope one day it eill go away but it doesn't bother me as much as it used to x

Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's gone now. It just took a bit to clear out for good.

My husband has constant Tinnitus and I have Tinnitus that comes and goes, thankfully each attack doesn't last too long with me.

Not sure what to suggest. Maybe you could go back to the doctor to check if the infection has cleared up fully. If not, some more antibiotics might be needed. If necessary, you could be referred to an ENT Specialist. I'm afraid, though, that as far as I am aware they can't do much about tinnitus.

I also understand that Ear wax should be removed by vacuuming now. Syringe method flush/wash - no longer used.
