Hi gman, its not something i've done but it has crossed my mind from time to time. I can't think of any members mentioning a personal trainer but hope it any one does they let you know.
Other than that, if you think it will help you to stick to an exercise regime that would be balanced and tailored to you, then I say go for it xx
Someone at work suggested it , I definitely need to address my weight etc at the moment. Thanks springersrule,
Gary
Hi, I’m not one to go by as I’m still on the large side but I had a personal trainer for about a year, every week. This was about 5-8 years ago. I was around 65 and felt so much better with having her. I did lose weight and she was fantastic. She set out nutrition, exercise, I even did boxing etc. she was more than just exercise and worked very much to my capabilities. I would definitely recommend.
I've just tried a shirt on whilst away , definitely time for action.Gary
Hi Gary, I forgot to say my PT came to my house so was 1-1 for an hour. She supplied small box of weights (I’m not into weights?) she brought scales. She goes to a gym if you want to but I chose not to. Try for a while, think of that shirt 👕. Good luck x
Not me but my son has engaged with a pt a few times, usually one who also advises on diet. He has found it very helpful I know, helps with keeping at it, not hurting himself with weights and someone to moan to when the diet goes awry. He even did a month long ’training camp’ in Thailand recently. I understand from him thart it can be pricey, sometimes they want to sell you expensive supplements dressed up as ’essential’ and not all pts are the same so perhaps try one out for a short period before committing to longer. I used to belong to a really good gym where the trainers were part of the package -not quite the same as having one all to yourself but plenty of personal attention and you could book a 20 min slot at quieter times.
Hope you find something helpful.
I had one via the NHS Paris scheme who gave me some good tips on how people weren't using the gym equipment properly from adjusting seats to not knowing the features on the equipment so if you don't want to spend the money then I would at least join a gym where you are advised what may be best for you .There wasn't guidance on what to eat - it was just exercise and I wasn't interested in body building or serious marathons . I think they are good as you are answerable to them but I would enquire at any gym as to what qualifications one should have and try and speak to their actual clients or at least get one who has reviews . My doubts would be injuries if you didn't get the right person but I can imagine this would be great for fitness and weigh loss if only for a kick start .
Could you kindly let us know how you get on if you do .
I am getting heavier by the week.I am looking to start as soon as I get back, can't wait till after Christmas.
I will let you know how I get on focused1.

May be holiday food ? We know what we eat at home but when you look at any dishes cooked in restaurants etc they seem amazingly high in calories . Very very tasty . We started buying a salad from a supermarket for lunch on holiday as we actually felt heavy despite 18k plus steps per day .Admirable that you are addressing this sensibly. For me slimming clubs have never been the answer but according to friends most seem to be very female dominated as do adverts .
Like others comment food is probably 80% the issue but as we get older from my experience we need exercise even to maintain .Health wise it will do you good too and a distraction. I never want to eat after 45 mins of Zumba as I prefer group exercise to music but most men in the gym feel they have to do what is perceived to be very manly exercise like mad spin classes and circuits . It is annoying that there isn’t any half way house . That’s why I think the PT is a good idea . Reflecting there is more out there for women in terms of variety .
I used one I didn’t make much progress because I didn’t change my diet and also I would only exercise when the personal trainer was there. Now I am doing it by myself more committed than I was then watching my diet and exercising and I have lost from 123kgs to 106 in 3 months. The good thing about having a personal trainer is that I learnt a lot of things from her that I am now applying in my exercise routines.
Sounds good sandra81, I'm going to give it a go .

Not sure where you live. I live in USA and my local YMCA has personal trainers and physical therapists available and sessions are included as part of the membership.
