Hello and welcome to our friendly and supportive forum. Here is a link to help you find your way around.

DO read all the information and click the links and have a good look around. Joining in as much as possible will help you get lots of support.

I have never tried WW or any slimming clubs. I have read that they do not work. Others who have wil be along soon and might have suggestions. I would suggest you post your start weight on the Weigh In. The Daily Diary is helpfull for meal ideas and planning. Reading around on here will help you decide on a plan to follow.

If you have any questions just ask

Hi Cheesechurch and welcome. I tried WW many years ago and found their point system somewhat flawed. Calories really aren’t all equal. I would suggest that you join the Daily Diary on here and share your meal plans with us and read ours. Maybe you can find out why you are not losing weight and be inspired to change things.

That's because the WW approach is hit and miss. Losing weight is more of a matter of which foods to avoid and which you can safely load up on rather than how much you eat.

Fat storage is regulated by insulin and the way to keep your insulin levels down is to avoid carbohydrates especially refined ones like sugar and fruit juice, and flour based foods (bread, cakes, biscuits)

Nothing works unless you know why you have been over eating.

I've done RC; WW; SW and only found here works because I am accountable to ME and no one else. I weigh, me.

I have looked at the reasons why I ate - it was to fill a pain gap, I've dealt with that and I have a whole new approach.

I weigh every week. I exercise more and eat less.

Do come and join - I'm a Wednesday Wobbler and I've lost 2 stone - most I have ever lost and I have kept it off. I need to lose more but things like going away and having a tooth out really didn't help 2 weeks ago. Life does get in the way sometimes but find the root.

thanks for your reply. i started to put on weight because of reducing my walking to foot problems ( planta fistula) and eating too much cheese. Cut down the cheese and stopped eating chocolate. have more control over the cheese eating. i am keeping to my point and i think i will starting losing it as i increase my exercise.

I am concerned about Christmas. i am going to my sister and there will be chocolate and she has brought me gluten free cakes which are full of sugar more than normal cakes.

how do you manage not to put on any wight over Christmas. I also have an underactive thyroid.

Take less on your plate. LEAVE stuff. Stick to your guns.

Try not to eat between meals. Think how utterly miserable you will feel if you put it on and how lovely you will feel if you don’t. There’s more to life than eating.

Tell your sister you love how kind she is and will she gently and kindly help you.

Lastly if you fail you aren’t a failure, stuff happens. Brush yourself off start again BUT don’t beat yourself up and self sabotage 😉
