hi everyone im new on here i need help please
Hi. Maybe you are eating too much. I have found that when I eat healthily I put on weight as I think its good for me! The best way I have found is to stop eating when you feel full, good luck this week and keep going x
Hi missperky,
Are you doing any exercise? Perhaps adding in a bit of cardio exercise will help boost your metabolism to burn some fat. Also I agree with Kristabell, check your portion sizes, that's the main thing I am tackling at the moment, as I've found that what I think is a normal portion, really isn't!
Use the my fitness pal ap to track everything you are eating including oils dressings etc this will tell you how many calories you are eating, you will need to stick to about 1400 a day to see a sensible weight loss
Hi, sorry to hear about your distress. However you need to understand that all foods you eat have a calorie content apart from water.
You need to cut out on the quantity and have smaller portions.
Hope that makes sense.
hi phiphi thanks for your reply, i have cut down on what i eat still no weight loss yet
Just an idea are you eating enough because I found that I'm not eating enough and my body was in constant starvation mode not eating the right food and not exercising meant I was putting on weight I've now started to lose now as I'm eating 6 times a day drinking water and doing some thing every day and aqua fit twice a week too hope this helps
Hi Miss Perky, You need the help of a professional mentor to work your way out of this problem. Have a chat with Tracey on this web site > warfarin wizard.com She will provide the support you need!
Switch to small plates, count everything that passes your lips apart from water on MyFitnessPal, and don't eat anything between meals or after your evening meal.
Agree with some of the comments, but also I found that including beans in my diet has really helped me to feel fuller for longer and I have noticed this way I can eat less meat as well. Agree biggest thing for me at the moment is portion sizes, I weighted my cereal in the morning on first day of my diet and I was shocked how little 40g portion really is. Drink plenty of water and make sure you go out for walks even if short once. If you can do other exercises do them too ( but if you exercise you will notice you will want to eat more, so choose right things to eat and don't stack in between) . If you struggle with gym I suggest you try aqua aerobics, its such a good fun and also since you do it in the water it really means you can choose your level of activity good luck with it all!
hi there thank you for replying to me, i will exercise more and once again thank you
I've recently discovered the Leslie Sansone power walking videos on YouTube and they're great, especially if the weather is too nasty to go out for a walk. Never eat more to compensate for exercise though - it's a bonus!
Well, if you put on weight it means that you eat more than you need to function and the rest is preserved
Fruits may contain a lot of calories, especially if they are sweet. On the other hand it depends what else do you eat. I recommend you to write down everything you eat, you might find useful My Fitness Pal website, which helps you calculate the calories.
Hi Missperky,
You could see if there is a Health trainer Service running in your area, they are generally free and offer 1-2-1 support in making lifestyle changes to aid in things such as weight loss after looking at your lifestyle as a whole and use S.M.A.R.T Goal setting to help you move forward
Check for any hidden sugar in your foods, like breakfast cereals or low fat yoghurts, and move to a lower sugar version. Try to avoid the 'white' foods as much as possible, like white bread, pasta, and eat the higher fibre versions if you can.
Good luck.
There is a live clinic running (last day to post questions today) on talkhealth regarding all issues related to weight management. talkhealthpartnership.com/f...
This may help answer some of your questions from you posting a question or reading other peoples questions and the expert responses.
If none of this advice seems to be working, it might be a good idea to talk this over with your GP to see if there are any underlying health issues. Good luck!
Hi missperky,
The idea of most weight loss regimes is to take control of your eating so that you eat less calories than you use.
Mostly we use 'average' values for all of this, but the actual calories you use in a day will depend upon your body weight - more body bulk needs more 'maintaining' - and the amount of exercise / activity you undertake and a number of other things too. Upping the exercise helps in other ways apart from just directly burning a few more calories.
Basically, the way to reduce the calorie intake is to change the type of food you eat, cutting back on carbohydrate (sugars) and unnecessary fats - but still ensuring you have a properly nutritious and healthy input of food with all the required vitamins, minerals, protein, essential fatty acids, etc., etc.
The idea is that reduction in calories will encourage your body to burn its stored fat rather than to store more of it. And mostly it works.
The most common places where people get control of their eating wrong are
1. the types of food (too many 'empty calories'),
2. the amount of food (lack of portion control) and
3. timing their food (getting into a good eating regime).
Basically it's best to not go for longer than about 4 hours without any food, so have a snack (it might be no more than an apple or tomato) to 'tide you over' to your next meal.
But do remember it ALL counts. Not just what you eat at home or at work, but when out and about too. And the drinks (whether lattes or G&Ts) count too. And the toppings, gravies, sauces, deserts as well. By the way, people notoriously under-report what they actually eat when keeping food diaries (sometimes drastically under-report it). So you need to be brutally honest with yourself.
And, as they say, if you want to lose weight, then the starting point is just what you're eating now that's causing you to put it on in the first place. And that "what" includes the how much and how often.
Lots of good advice on the NHS live well lose weight pages (and all for free).
Good luck with your weight loss efforts.
Finally - completely agree with Mufasa's comments.
Weigh your food.you will be surprised at the size of a 'portion' stick to your calorie limit. Choose lower fat foods.i have completely cut out all the naughties like choc and biscuits etc and with exception of 1 babybel that I used in cooking I haven't eaten cheeses as that is one of my downfalls.I don't eat after 6pm and have upped my water intake.I don't have a car so I do plenty of walking and school runs and do a minimum of 2 1/2 hours hot a sweaty exercise each week! write down everything you eat and work out the calorie content, even for fruit and veg. My friend had to cut out carbs to get past a stuck point, (I wouldn't cut carbs, just saying it might be an option if you really are trying everything). Last but not least- see your doctor and get your thyroid checked.it might be a health issue or hormone problem and they can advise on that further.good luck.
