I feel for you 😊 It is a viscous circle of high BP/thyroxine/weight gain and loss of fitness.
I was in a similar position and what worked for me was, firstly, achievable goals. For example I was told that losing 5% significantly benefits you health wise 😊 Secondly, a generous eating plan. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a day, so I can eat well and enjoy my favourite foods without feeling deprived 😊 And lastly, (and for me a major factor) increasing exercise. Just 10 minutes a couple of times a day, gradually building up. I think what I am trying to say is that quite small steps can make a big difference towards achieving the end goal of increased fitness and better health.
Even I am following a healthy eating diet and I am going to the gym everyday I am not seeing any results yet..I am trying hard but..sometimes old habits are back..especially when I am stressed..but I am trying..
You have said it, old habits are difficult to change 😕 But just small changes every day add up 😊 If you are eating healthily and still not losing weight you perhaps need to adjust the quantities? Just 50 or 100 calories a day less maybe? Good luck!
I will try that..50 to 100 calories less per day..it is a good idea..small steps..
I tried to have 500-700 cal less per day, I couldn't manage, I was disappointed and...you know the rest of the story...also, i need to find ways to be feel strong with myself..
A bit of self belief goes a long way 😊 You can and will do this if you set yourself achievable goals. But don't try to do too much at once 😊 Very best wishes
I can see that Hidden has given you the links to the Welcome Newbie thread and also to the NHS 12 week plan.
I'd like to also give you a link to our Monday group weigh-in session, incase you like the idea of a weekly weigh-in - as group support is really helpful. You'd be very welcome to join us, if you like the idea of participating. The next weigh-in will be Monday 18th April 2016.
That's great Dora - you can either look out for the posts on Monday - or click on 'follow' and my name (Lowcal) and you'd be automatically notified of when the Monday group weigh-in post is posted. Whatever is better for you. Look forward to seeing you on Monday! Have a lovely weekend in the meantime.
Just wanted to wish you all the best with your weight loss. It is a virtuous circle. If you can just stay strong through that first week and see a result, you will feel better about yourself and less need to eat for emotional reasons. Move a bit more and feel more positive and you will again be even less likely to need to eat for emotional reasons... Once you are started there will be a few hiccups but people here will help you get straight back on track.
Maybe you could motivate yourself by planning for your next big birthday; every time you get the urge to nibble or snack on something that is not included in your day's food, imagine yourself on your birthday, in the photos and everyone saying how good you are looking! It might just help you to stay in control during those wobbly moments that we all get!
the other day I was looking a nice dress (suitable for not fatty women) in a window and I felt so nice imaging myself in it..I gain 35 kg in 3 years time and I am really socked as my weight is getting up and up..
I need a good motivation, something to remind me how healthy and nice is, not to have the excess fat in my body. There are times that knowing that other people are going through that procedure of loosing weight and they are giving their own "fight" makes me feel strong enough to continue..but it seems that i am not strong enough to stay dedicated in my weight loss plan..also people around me (family, friends and my boyfriend) they do not really help me to stay dedicated..
Hi Dora, it's really hard when your trying to better yourself and you don't have the help from the people around you. Try to explain how you feel so they can help you in making the best choices. Or say 'bugger you!! I'm doing this for me and I'm going to be leaner, fitter and happier. Stay positive and you will do it 😀
I tried to explain them, they can not understand me, they can not understand how difficult it is to loose weight..that's the main reason that I am asking your support, your help..i said to myself, Dora you can do this but it seem that I am not strong enough xxx I need your help to motivate me!!!
No problem, that's what we are here for 😀 moral support on tap by people who won't judge. We are all on the same journey x
I now other people have recommended my fitness pal and it is very good and free.
I use it to calorie count, it's amazing how much calories are in some things.
You can also log your fitness, even just walking and housework (it all counts) and it tells u how much calories you have burnt off, this means u can eat more as it adjusts your calorie intake.
But very important..... you have to be very truthful with what you imput or you won't loose weight!!
As soon as u start loosing it won't matter what your friends/family say or do. You will start to glow and they will be envious.
I will start with small steps and I will let you know..Wish me good luck!!!! Lets start my journey!!!Cross your finger not to do overeating, as I will have a hard week..
I've had a unsuccessful week as well pulled a rib muscle stifling a sneeze (daft but true!!) so I've not been able to do any exercise. Walked lots but missed my keep fit with davina McCall feeling a bit better today so shall resume tomorrow.
Had to keep a close eye on food consumption so I don't put on weight this week.
We all have bad weeks...but hopefully the good weeks win!!!!
I find using the myfitnesspal ap to calorie count is really helpful. I have a strict rule not to go over the calorie limit which makes me stop and think about each thing I eat to consider whether it is worth using up my allowance on it (am quite often surprised at how many calories somethings contain!). Counting the calories properly turns it more into a game for me which I am trying to win. Don't beat yourself up if you go over your. Limit though ... Life is too short to do that. Just pick yourself up and start again the next day. Good luck! In it to win!!!
