HI I have just joined this group in the hope that it will help me achieve my weight loss goals. I feel like I need to be able to chat with people who are going through the same as me and who will understand my struggles without any judgement. I am in a really down phase at the moment and am struggling to lose the weight I need to lose. I had bariatric surgery 5 years ago and lost 50kg. I was very happy and felt good. I was doing very well with the weight loss and was maintaining my goal weight until COVID. During COVID I had a very stressful time, having both parents take ill and then my mom passing away . I do not live in the same country as my parents and therefore was unable to be at her beside or at her funeral. This all led me to stress/comfort eating. I started on food I had not eaten in 4 years and now I cannot stop the binge eating. I have gained 16kg and really hate myself. I have been trying to lose the weight and lose 2kg and then put it back on. I am also menopausal and starting on HRT didn't help as it led to weight gain. I stopped taking the HRT as I didn't like how it made me feel. I am having an operation in August and would really like to be 10kg lighter before the operation. I start each day with good intentions and then around lunch time I start to eat and can't stop. The more I try the more I gain and then the more I hate myself. ( a little side note: I have struggled with eating disorders since around the age of 15, from anorexia , bulimia and obesity. ) Thanks for reading .

Hello Emuna, and welcome to Weight Loss Support
First of all, please accept my condolences on the loss of your mom. Covid presented a terrible situation for many families that must have been unbearable.
The important thing is that you've taken steps now and have a goal to aim for. As our title suggests, the forum is very supportive, and within it there are lots of individual groups you can join in with, such as our Daily Diary, where we record what food, drink and exercise we are planning for the day ahead, the Weekly Weigh-In, where members track how they are doing on their journey, and even a Spring Into Summer Challenge, where participants join in with the aim of losing at least 7lb. It's not too late to join in with that, but wherever you choose to join in, the emphasis is on peer support. Within our participants we have had many different experiences and difficulties and we offer support and ideas based on what has worked or is working for us.
I've put a link at the bottom of my reply which will take you to our 'pinned posts', these are the groups that are current this week/month, and I would encourage you to join in with them.
I wish you all the best with your plan to lose some weight before your surgery 🍀
Hello. I'm so sorry to hear of all the difficulties and sadness you've experienced. I'm not sure where your based, but here in Scotland we have a specialist eating disorders service and I believe that this type of service is what you need to finally overcome your problems with food. This is a wonderful place for emotional support, but I suspect, as someone with your history, there isn't a thing that you don't know about 'weight loss'. Have a wee Google to see what specialist services are in your area. All the very best to you. I truly understand how awful the grip of disordered can be. Lynne
Welcome, Emuna
You have had a lot of sadness and challenges to deal with, and you make it very clear why you want to make changes - your health and wellbeing, your feelings about yourself and your past history regarding eating. I hope you're finding your way around and exploring all that's on offer - keep checking out the link Grigid has given you and join in as much as you can
In the starting stage, I have also little problem with issue while starting my weight loss journey. I m feel very hard to stop overeating. Later I will see some positive results, afterwards I m happy to following my strict diet, still now also I following in my daily life.
