Hello, I'm new to using this forum (despite having been a member for a while), as I have been tied up with PMR. In a nutshell, due to high doses of steroids over the last 3 years I have gone up 2 dress sizes (2 stone). I believe a high protein/keto type diet will be good for me. Please has anyone got any good recipes to suit this or advise where can I find them? Im getting sick of salad and the same boring food...thank you x

Do have a good look around and read the links. It can be confusing to find your way around to start with. You might like to start by popping over to the weigh in and posting your start weight and some information about yourself. The daily diary is a great place for meal ideas. A lot of follow low carb plans in some way. and will be pleased to help with suggestions.

Hello and welcome
A keto diet is the extreme end of a lchf (low carb, healthy fat) plan. Some members find it a helpful kickstart for a couple of weeks but few stay at the keto level: most move to a more relaxed lchf plan. By the way, "keto" doesn't involve high protein.
Here are a couple of links you could look at to find out more
Thank you for your welcome and info...I think a kick start is what I need and definitely need to learn more. I have lost a stone and half by tapering the steroids to a lower dose and eating more sensible though I have stopped losing now despite still eating the same healthy stuff...definitely need a boost 😊
You've done really well to lose that much when you're on steroids.
Have a look at that first link, DietDoctor. There are plenty of recipes, carb counted, and you can do a free 2 week plan with them.

As PMR is an inflammatory condition I would suggest that you concentrate on reducing your chronic inflammation (inflammation from food). Luckilly you'll find that the anti inflammatory diets published online are low carb which will help with the weight. Another cause of inflammation is refined seed oils so stick to cold pressed olive oil, coconut oil, lard and avocado oil if you can find it. Other than that you can eat almost anything you like if you can leave out any refined carbohydrate food ingredient like fruit juice, pasta and white bread/flour.
Hello...thank you very much for this info ...I have just ordered coconut oil in my shop which this week is low carb 😊
Have u tried intermittent fasting?
