Hi all. Newbie here. My name is T and I have found that the lbs have crept on after being on a gluten based diet to be tested for coeliac. I am now off gluten and dairy and have found I cannot shift the excess weight. I’m currently 11st5 and walk over 10,000 steps a day, do at least three workouts a week and I do reach for the high sugar fix snacks because I don’t know what else to eat. I am talking to a dietician in July but will find this group helpful with motivation.

Hello and welcome, great to have you with us !

Personally I would avoid the high sugar snacks at all costs, have you considered Low Carb High Fat?

I know the high sugar ones are so bad for me. I think I’m just craving something to keep my energy levels up as I find I’m so tired all the time. I’m on a low FODMAP diet but it’s so restricting! The pinned posts haven’t been pinned unless I’m missing something. Thank you for the welcome

I've added the link for you, would it be an option to fill up on nice healthy fats at meal times so you don't get an energy slump? :-) x

Hi there, I have cfs/me and am tired all the time due to the lack of energy and used to reach for energy snacks too. I was pre diabetic too. Anyway, how I have lost weight was to swap my white carbs for healthier GI and dropped sugar, I am also wheat and dairy free so I hear you with the restrictive bit! Although I don't know much foodmap diet wise.

It's a problem with trying to exercise to lose weight before reforming the diet that the exercise makes you hungry and you tend to go for sugary snacks which stimulate the hunger hormone and make you want to snack. Try eating low carb high fat before doing your exercise each day so that you won't have an energy defect after the exercise. After a few weeks your body should adapt to use ketones for energy and you'll tend to loose the needing to snack.
