I hope that you'll do more than 'report in' every week, because everything this forum has to offer is designed to help you on every step of your weight loss journey. Together, anything is possible
All of the information you need about the forum can be found in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... and we hope you'll be joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run, especially a weigh-in and the daily diary.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
Yep, sounds familiar. THIS time I started at 14st 5lbs height 5’4”. Posting weekly here has really helped me, have you chosen a ‘weigh-in day’ yet? If not, check out JiminyCricket’s post the Tuesday Trimmers - I’ve just replied and lots will be doing so as the morning wears on.
I have some major health problems too but slimming 2 stone off has really helped as does healthy eating. You know you can do it but it is very hard to do on your own without support so I’m glad you’ve posted here.
Good Luck primaballerina, here’s a lucky 4 leaf clover 🍀 and a hug 🤗 to get you started.
There are plenty of older people here who got this sorted (I'm 50 and maintaining just fine) so don't worry, it can be done!
Honestly, if you have joint issues, do not run. You'll just make things worse, and in any case exercise is not hugely important until you start getting near your goal weight. Keep as active as possible and you'll make progress.
Get your diet right and the weight will come off effortlessly. If the weight isn't coming off it's because your diet is wrong; get the content of your meals correct and your body will start to manage the 'how much' aspect correctly.
Please try to check in daily or as often as you can! The support you get on this website is great and can really help keep you active with your goals and not veer off the path as much. Using the NHS calorie allowance website to calculate your allotted calories is a great start. Perhaps try using an app to count your food each day as this will be more accurate than writing it down?
To echo TheAwfulToad, please do not run if you have joint issues as it will just exacerbate them. Walking is a great AND low-impact way to get in exercise that won't affect your joints. As you lose weight, your joint issues may alleviate somewhat which is a bonus. Good luck x
Thank you for your lovely supportive replies... I will start with walking regularly before continuing with my running... perhaps as the weight goes down I can continue with my Couch 2 5K.As you all say, it IS easy to lose weight but you have to be in control of what goes in! I will probably use myfitnesspal to aid my road to success.
Good luck on your journey primaballerina you have absolutely come to a place were the help is given with care and a joint interest in you achieving success. There are so many that have successfully achieved their desired target weights but remain involved, keeping themselves in check and inspiring the rest of us who are striving to achieve the same result. I am much much bigger than you, and any aspiration I had to take up ballet are now long behind me😂 I have been a perenial yoyo dieter but for teh first time ever given the support of the fantastic member of HU, I am confident that I will succeed. Welcome onbord😊x
