I am very new to this so not too sure how I go about doing this, but I'll start my giving a bit of context about myself. I am a female in her early 20s who is, to put it politely, a little bit on the heavy side! I have just completed 4 years of university which pretty much consisted of a diet of fast food, alcohol and 0 exercise. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the above mix is a recipe for weight gain (a huge amount in my case!). I seen how much weight I had put on when I was looking at photos from my graduation; it is very apparent that I am the 'fat' friend! So, this is me trying to do something about it.
As I am sure many of you have also done, I have tried and failed to loose weight so many times over the years. I always seem to make it a couple of weeks or so and end up falling back into old tricks! So does anybody have any tips or advice on how to stay motivated? My strategy just now is healthy eating (loosely based on slimming worlds ideas) alongside exercise classes 3-4 times a week (spin, H.I.I.T, pump it up etc). Today is actually the third day of my diet/healthy living and I am already starting to crave everything I shouldn't. I should also mentioned I am looking to shed about 3 stone to get me down to the 10-10.7 mark to give me a healthy BMI, as I am dangerously close to the obese section on the scale.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
We are all different and have different strategies for changing our eating habits. Some people do very well on SW principles but for me, I had to learn about portion control and eating moderate amounts of my favourite foods. Others find it easier to give up high calorie foods completely as they have no 'off' switch.
Remember, small changes can have big results, depending upon your diet before, eating better quality foods in smaller portions will certainly help. But some knowledge of calories is important too.
Have a good look around, read the Newbies post, and ask if you have any questions 😊
First of all we'll done you. Second of all phew you're making lots of changes to your life. If it helps you, for me the forum has become my no excuses default. I have buddied up with Rebecca 7913 and we spur each other on. I couldn't dream of letting her down. If she kicks butt then so do I...
So if you want some butt kicking buddies you're in the right place. Good luck and big hugs for the days when it seems way too much to do.
This group is fab for motivation. I joined ages ago but went off the rails but I started SW on 20th June and have lost 10lbs so far. My target weight is 10 stone and I have got 3 stone to loose to get there. What has helped me is what I call mindful eating. I would always grab the biscuits, have a cake, crisps just because I fancied it. Now I stop and ask myself do I really need it. I also permanently have a bottle of water around which I sip all day long (this is great at keeping hunger at bay). With te exercise just start slow. I always find if I go all out with diet and exercise - I fail after a few weeks as it's all too much at once. I also try to remember that it has taken years to get to the weight I am now and getting it off won't be quick. Although I am on SW, I don't think of it as a diet and am re-educating myself to make healthy food choices. My go to treat is a curly wurly (and I have an endless supply in the fridge lol!). I'm enjoying my journey so far but I am ready for the bumps in the road and I know there will be a few along the way. Good luck with your journey.
