Congrats on a great first week. I started off using this last Spring! I like calorie counting and liked the recommendations for stuff like eating more fibre. Lost 3st so far so it works :)

I started at 16st5 :) You can do it - go slow and be kind to yourself would be my main advice. When I've tried to do diets in the past I've changed to much at once and been overwhelmed and given up, but this time I made small changes over time which are more sustainable.

This was the plan I used. I found it easy to follow and loved the easy meals. I lost 1 stone 10 lb. I did the 12 weeks twice and now use the meals to maintain. I didn't feel I was on a diet. I learnt so much about portion control and find I don't need to weigh everything now or count the calories as it is just second nature to me. You have done well and I wish you every success. Your weight loss will slow down eventually but just keep going as it does work. There is a lot of support groups on this forum so keep in touch. X

Thanks for the encouragement 😊 I think being strict on myself is the key for me. Finding it very interesting doing the calorie counting and planning meals for the family. Will definitely check out the meal App, always getting wrong off the kids for the massive amount of rubbish I eat 😂 so far I haven’t felt hungry I think that’s the main thing for me. That’s fab loosing 1st 10lb 👍🏻👍🏻 I don’t know my ideal weight but if I took the advice off the nhs/bmi I should be 9 to 11 stone which I’ve never been since I was at school 😂😂 see how I get on

I found the easy meal app fab as the whole family can eat them. X

I found the plan gave me the impetus to start. I found the calorie counting useful for the first weeks but moved onto LCHF diet which suits me better.

I really do love lchf it's the only diet that's working for me xx

Me too. It is about long sustained change I guess. I do miss my home made bread but have learned how to make microwave mug breads with almond flour that do the trick and take less than a minute.

in reply towalkinthewoods

I found it hard at first with not having bread and more so when hubby had toast oh my word the smell but now I'm fine with it. Xx

I have stopped making home made bread and hubby is fine with that and is also benefiting from eating less bread. I dont think he even realises that he hasnt had potatoes for weeks.

I love bread and I always take sandwiches to work for my bait, now have move to just brown bread “a couple of thick slices” and factor them into my carlorie count, I think “don’t get me wrong I’m no expert😂” the portion sizes for me is important and making stuff that fill me up 😊

Bread doesnt work so well on low carb diet but will look to introduce small portions when I am well established in the LCHF regime.

Well done on losing so much in the first week. I gave been using the NHS plan and I am now doing it for the third time. I have lost 15% of my start weight. I have a spreadsheet which I fill in with what I plan to eat and drink each day and it works out the number of calories from a list that I keep on there. I allow myself a couple of hundred calories at the weekend so I have a glass or two of wine to look forward to.

I know calorie counting doesn't work for everyone but I enjoy working out my food allowance each day.

Weight loss was fast at the start but has slowed to around 1lb a week now but it is still going and I hope to be at my target weight by June.

Good luck and keep at it.

Hello and welcome to the forum JeanD54,

You sound very organised :) Weight loss slows down with most people after the initial few weeks and a 1lb a loss week is brilliant.

Well done!! I have just started week 3 of the NHS programme and this is the first diet ive stuck to at weekends as well. I lost 5lb the first week and only 1 1/4 lb this week (this morning was weigh in day). I was a bit disappointed with 1 1/4lb but will keep going. I had 2 glasses of slim wine Sat night and felt like i was cheating but wasnt! I want to lose 2 stone altogether. Good luck!

Hiya this is the first time in my life I’ve been on a diet and I’m 54. I been told off experiences dieters that I would loose the most weight in the first week, if I can plug away 1 or 2 pounds a week I’ll be happy 😊 what I’ve found sticking to the calorie counting is that I’ve always got a couple of hundred calories left to use at the end of the day “but I don’t” 😂 I set my target at 2250. I haven’t got a target weight because according to the NHS I should be between 9 & 11 stone “not going to happen 😂 I’d be happy sitting at 14st ish and feeling a bit my energetic 👍🏻 Good luck to you as well 😊

Hello and welcome SusanKSR

Your are doing very well and should never be disappointed to loose 'only' any amount of weight, especially 11/4lbs. Any weight lost is a great achievement and the slower it comes off, hopefully the slower it will ever return :)
