Hello and welcome to the forum,

Sue your post title did make me laugh, I had visions of you trying to eat our very own Caroline62 😂🤣 As you're new you won't have met her yet :)

I would suggest that you use this link to take you to the NHS BMI calculator which will help you to decide how many calories to eat. A word of caution, don't be tempted to start too low, start at the high end. nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-we...

Here is the link to all of the information you will need to navigate the forum, which is best achieved by using the full web site not the app. Please take the time to read the Welcome newbie post,

You will see that we have a lot of Events, Clubs and Challenges for you to take part in and recommend that you at least join a Weigh In day of your choice and the Daily Diary.

If you haven’t already taken it, here is a link to a tour of the forum,

Didn’t realise I had done that with the title. Thanks I entered my details into the BMI calculator and it suggested 1665-2114 so will try 1800 -1900 I think. Thanks for the advice on the forum and I will definitely join the weigh in 😘

You need to stop thinking about just calories, but what foods give you those calories. If you get too many of your calories from fats, you'll just poo them out, wheras if you get your calories from carbohydrates (sugars and starches) the body breaks them down into glucose (blood sugar) and what you don't burn off, the body turns into glycogen which is stored in the muscle and liver, and when those stores are full the liver turns them into the building blocks of fat which is deposited all around your body including your veins and arteries which damages your cardiovascular system over time. High blood sugar leads to high insulin levels, so you risk making yourself diabetic eventually as well as damaging your nerves.
