Hi coolkid123 (cool name btw) & welcome to this amazing forum. I suggest you spend some time clicking about to find your way around. It's easier if you have a lap-top as there are several threads. If you’re using another device I strongly suggest that you use the web page as opposed to the app at least until you know your way around.

Have a good read of the pinned post “Welcome Newbies” and follow every thread.

Here’s the link to the pinned posts, healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...

Here’s the link for the “Tour” of the forum. If you haven’t already taken it.

You don't mention which, if any, plan you have been following. Counting calories or just being mindful. Here are a couple of links to begin with but at the moment I'm just guessing.

I strongly suggest you read and contribute to the Daily Diary and participate in a Weekly Weigh in.

You will find there's loads of tips about better eating, from other members. Sharing your daily menu not only helps you stay committed, it can help other members too.

Good luck I hope to "see " you around.

:)

It's perfectly possible to invent a diet that includes (some) cake. For example if you're calorie counting just include the cake in your count. For most of us though it's easier just to avoid the things we think we shouldn't eat. Your choice.

What method are you using that you are finding so hard? There are many different weight loss methods so perhaps a different way of eating would suit you better?

What kind of cake is it and how big is it?

Hi there, you might not like this but it is an honest answer, fill yourself on scrumptious roasted seasonal vegetables.

Roast Carrots 41p, Roast Parsnips 40p,

Roast New Potatoes 90, Roast Butternut Squash £1.40, Roast Tomatoes £1.10.

Wash the vegetables, lightly cover with olive oil, lightly season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, tandoori powder and a little chilli powder and bake for 45 minutes in the oven 190 degrees C.

All the above items are available in Tesco.

2 filling fibre packed meals.

If you are still hungry have a fruit salad, apple, pear, grapes, pineapple and banana topped with seasonal frozen berries and zero fat greek yogurt.

If you are still hungry after that a handful of mixed nuts £2.00 for 500g and some sultanas with a skimmed milk coffee.

Trust me it is an amazing meal and the proof of a balanced nutritional vegetarian diet is a BMI of 19.8 and I managed a 24km gentle run this afternoon.

Also give up the alcohol it serves no purpose for anyone.

Any further questions just ask, I shall give you honest feedback and relate it to real personal experience.

I trust this helps 🙂.

Oh that’s a tough one. Here’s what I say to myself:

Skip the cake! Resisting builds your “resistance muscle” and actually makes it easier to resist the next time. I find I get into a funk of “well, I’m going to give in eventually so I may as well eat it and end the struggle.” I have to remind myself that is not true! Actually if I resist the next day it is slightly easier. Good luck and I hope you skipped it. If not, get right back on plan and eat plenty of healthy, satisfying, delicious food so it’s easier to resist next time. Sending a virtual hug.

Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it but don’t have a lot of it. Have all things in moderation and you can’t go wrong.

If you find yourself craving cake, you're either (a) not eating proper meals or (b) eating the wrong things at mealtimes.

Eat food, and eat until you're full. Try to make sure your plate is full of veg and add meat/eggs/dairy to taste. In other words, try to get away from the British habit of loading up your plate with pasta/rice/potatoes and dumping a sauce on top - this is pretty much guaranteed to make anybody fat, eventually.

Avoid highly-processed foods such as breakfast cereals, fake bread, margarine (and other low-fat products), packaged sauces, ready meals, etc etc. Cook your meals yourself from fresh ingredients.

Basically, if you're filling up on proper food, you'll be a lot less inclined to eat rubbish. There's nothing wrong with cake as an occasional treat, but it should be just that: a treat.
