My name is Emily. I am a registered nurse and a baccalaureate nursing student. I am interested in learning more about your experiences and in particular what resources are available in your community to help you with your weight loss journey as well as any barriers or difficulties you have encountered towards reaching your goal. This will help me understand and better care for my future patients.
Thanks!

The biggest barrier and difficulty I had to maintaining weight loss long term, was continually being told by GP and practice nurse to lose weight by avoiding eating fat, counting calories, prescriptions of Orlistat. A lifetime of diet ending up obese with a hernia. Best thing I did was to come here and listen to what some people were saying about fat NOT being the enemy it's made out to be and paying more attention to the amount of sugar and carbs I was consuming in my "low fat healthy" choices. In particular from the internet, I liked the work of Dr Robert Lustig (The Skinny on Obesity), Dr David Unwin (HOPE for diabetics), Dr Jane McCormack (Fatismyfriend). Worth looking at with an open mind. It's been working well for me.
