Day 258: Colds and Tiredness

Wordsworth2 profile image

It's amazing how a cold and tiredness can kill your motivation and turn your healthy eating on it's head. Time to pick myself up, dust myself off and try again tomorrow. Had a burger, two beers and a Choux bun! Going to try and keep myself busy and stocked up on water tomorrow to see if I can make it to bedtime without eating rubbish. Stay strong, stay safe!

Cut yourself some slack Sean. Leave the exercise until your well mate otherwise your cold will just linger on. Nothing wrong with a burger its the bread and chips which will Keep the weight on. Have mushrooms onions and veg 👍🏽

Unfortunately I am running 2 miles a day for September for Cancer Research and I do actually enjoy the run, even if I am full of cold. I'll eat lots of fruit and get vitamins to help me! Good idea with the burger!

I’m with Jeff on this one. Press the pause button till the cold has truly gone. I always find that a hot drink helps me feel better, whether it was lemon 🍋 and honey 🍯 or something else. It’s somehow comforting when you are all stuffed up and stops you reaching for anything else. Take care, rest, get extra sleep and recover ☺️

I am definitely going down the hot drink route and a lemon and honey tea is definitely on the cards as it sounds lovely! I will try and get extra sleep tonight!

Oh Sean, you're so hard on yourself!

A cold really can knock you for 6, especially if you are so busy.

Take a couple of rest days from the running to give your body a chance.

Take care

To be fair my run this morning was hell on earth for the first mile but I really enjoyed the second and felt much better after. Perhaps the end of the cold in nigh? Thanks for the support! Once I finish the month I will defo give myself a rest.

Have a couple of whiskies instead of beers Sean. Great for a cold and no calls !! 👍🏽 You may want to add hot lemon or a whisky 🥃

The fact that you have been addressing your weight and long term health for so long Sean is a Real credit to you. It shows your determination to make significant changes to your life style and health and none of us should lose sight of that.

You are trying to undo habits you have installed into your behaviour over years. We have all been influenced by social and psychological aspects in life including constant pressures and exposure to advertising about the pleasures of high calorie foods and alcohol as a way of achieving pleasure and happiness.

I was chatting to a mate yesterday about it On a hot day you’ve been out and say “I could murder a cold beer now! “ This inevitably leads to three. However in reality you are just thirsty and need a pint of water.

If you have blips along the way So what we all do ! Well done mate teaching is not an easy job and it really takes it out of you and trying to change your way of eating as well sometimes I am sure is a real challenge. Focus on the positives your achievement and commitment to long term success you have already shown and continue to do so.

Have a good day and take each day as it comes.

May your underpants grow baggy !!👍🏽

Hey Jeff,

I loved reading that, a real inspiration to keep going. I always try to remain positive and I know that if I feel a little sorry for myself you are always there to pick me up. So thank you! If I could have a fizzy water that tasted like beer I would be sorted! It's nice to know that I am in such great company as we all try to lost that little bit of weight and keep propping each other up. I am trying to keep up with this and work and running and often it is hard to find the time. So please don't think that, if I don't reply, that I am not extremely grateful for the words of wisdom from you. Thanks again for your amazing support! I hope your journey is also going well and that 5lbs will soon be off!

I'm off out on the bike again today I cycled with a mate yesterday he took me on a challenging circuit with lots of climbs. I took another pound off. I've only one to go to get back to 12.12. I drank water most of yesterday. When my OH was having a G nT and then wine with her meal I had Diet Coke as my treat. I did have some dark chocolate and a whisky with my coffee to finish off though.

I'm planning to cycle the 80 Mile Moecambe Bay cycle way with a couple of friends also retired teachers. They are coming over in a couple of weeks. They are my age but skinny fit buggers! I'm hoping to get a bit more off before they come.

It's brill what you're doing for running for cancer Sean what a good idea. Good luck with that I'm sure you'll nail It.

Friday today mate at least you've the weekend coming up.

Have a good one

Best wishes

Jeff

That is a lot of miles and if you continue that way you'll be at 12:12 in no time. I also have skinny fit buggers as friends. I hate them! Lol

Haha Our time will come Sean This skinny woman overtook me on her racing bike this morning. I have a big chunky mountain bike so not a contest really . I was so niffed though I caught her up Over took her and left her miles behind I was so chuffed. I would have Had no chance of doing that a few months ago. 😂😂

Lol! I love those moments of pure adrenaline and motivation. And also the realisation as to how far we've come. 😁

It's a win win Sean you feel better as you have more energy , you are more agile, you feel healthier and feel more confident about your appearance as you know you look better. You have to work at it though I know as soon as I take my eye off the ball the weight will creep back on. I've been up and down in weight all my life. Fortunately for most of it I've been active with running cycling playing footy or rugger and now sailing. The running challenge is a great idea Sean as it makes you do it. I am determined to keep at the exercise I will be interested to see how I am in December.

Hey Jeff,

Me too on the seeing how I look in December. I am going away in October...hopefully, so that's my target. Lose as much as I can by October half term and then review from there. I have been up and down for the last ten years when I stopped going to the gym and went to the pub instead. Time to lose the beer belly, moobs and stomach and get into shape (even though round is, technically, a shape).

I think you just look at where you are now and what you looked like before. We are dog sitting this week and the other half is out at work I’ve got a stubborn pound I want to get rid off but I don’t want to leave the dog in while I go out on the bike. I might have to do some very long walks instead and see if that does it. That and tweaking what I eat hopefully will do it . Wish me luck have a good day back at the chalk face and hope your cold has gone !👍🏽

Hey Jeff,

Good luck trying to juggle the dog and biking...sounds like the same nightmare we're having with two cats and a dog that have only just met. One of the cats is fine, the other is a little rascal and doesn't like the dog. That'll have to change because other wise the cat will go, the dog is mine and will be staying! Lol. Good luck shifting that lb!
