Hello and welcome, Craftytink 😊

I would think it goes in both. However, my suggestion would be to work towards eliminating snacks and building up your meals, so you'd include the fruit in one of your meals. The reason for this is that each time we eat, our bodies produce insulin and a role of insulin is fat storage, so we're best to reduce the number of times we eat.

I'm assuming you're calorie counting so my tip would be to use the NHS BMI calculator which will give you a personalised calorie range.

You'll find all our groups and activities in Pinned Posts healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... , plus a Welcome message. A good place to start is with a weekly weigh-in on the day of your choice, and the Daily Diary, where members share their meal plans.

This gives you a tour of the forum healthunlocked.com/?tour=true and, along with Pinned Posts, will show you how things work. Active participation can be a great boost to your own efforts so I hope you'll become an active member and we will see you joining in around the forum 😊

PS the app doesn’t give access to all parts of the forum so we advise everyone to get rid of the app and log on to the full website using the browser on their phone

Personally I find the notion 'five-a day fruit and veg' rather unhelpful as fruit contains natural sugars and too much of it can be problematic.

I guess 'five-a-day vegetables, or you could have one or two of those being fruit if you really want' just isn't as snappy sounding. 😄

That’s my philosophy but agree it doesnt have quite the same ring to it 😂. Apparently in some countries it’s 7-a-day but it was felt 5-a-day was a big enough leap for the vegetable phobic British public ☹️

Thats a good question or should we not be eating between meals even if its good for us like fruit.

You're best to stick to eating at mealtimes. And also, be wary of fruit with its heavy load of sugar

That’s an interesting question

I’ve only just started this plan but have just added it to my 5 a day but thinking about it there will be calories so maybe it should go in both??

You're right, there are calories in any fruit, plus lots of sugar which I would guess you're trying to avoid
