For someone who has never eaten more than an apple or a few peas in her lifetime, this is amazing. And what is even more shocking? I enjoyed it.

I never thought I'd like bananas because of the texture but I surprised myself. Yum!

Next on the list, I'm going to tackle strawberries without dousing them in sugar first...

That's such great news Mariejane and well done for giving it a try and enjoying it. You now know that you can make life changes and feel pleased with the outcome. I suspect that you will do really well in the weight loss programme with your theory of out with the old and in with the new. Good luck.

Good for you! Have you tried frozen fruit blended with yogurt or milk? It's like icecream, or a thick shake.

After a while you find you don't want things so sweet. I go to an annual ceremony which always involves bowls of strawberries, eaten in the cathedral after the awards and speeches. No sugar is available, just jugs of cream if desired.

About apples, this is the best season for them, especially locally-grown ones. Apparently this year the weather conditions have been just right for them and there is a bumper crop. One of my favourite snacks is a sliced apple with Emmental cheese.

Way to go! And I can relate- I have a husband that is none too fond of the fresh stuff. Getting him to try anything different is a trick, so I think you have crossed a big bridge here!

Still making healthy choices, took a ham sandwich with no butter to work and snacked on fruit......
