After a while you find you don't want things so sweet. I go to an annual ceremony which always involves bowls of strawberries, eaten in the cathedral after the awards and speeches. No sugar is available, just jugs of cream if desired.
About apples, this is the best season for them, especially locally-grown ones. Apparently this year the weather conditions have been just right for them and there is a bumper crop. One of my favourite snacks is a sliced apple with Emmental cheese.
Way to go! And I can relate- I have a husband that is none too fond of the fresh stuff. Getting him to try anything different is a trick, so I think you have crossed a big bridge here!
